Major Slowdown in Temple Quarter

21.11.2012 @ 02:55 #1

Surprisingly, I have been able to play the game up till now with Medium settings, though at 1024 x 768 resolution. No problems whatsoever. So now...

I leave the Detective's House in the Temple Quarter, get into the fight, throw back a potion (can't remember which one, it makes a blue swirl around Geralt that distorts the scenery as it passes). Finish the fight. From this point on, all characters and objects move like they are in jell-o. I can swing the camera around wildly, normal speed, all menus function normal speed. Geralt just moves in super slow mo. I can see the raindrops, as they move pretty slowly, too.

I enter Abandoned house nearby, still slowdown like crazy. No jerky movements, no jumps, just Geralt in Jell-O Mode.

Any idea what the heck is going on, and how I might un-JellO everyone? I have brought all settings to Low, lowered the resolution and went to windowed mode. No effect on the slow motion at all. Drivers are up to date, little running in the background.

Also let me add that I am running TW:EE, I am pretty sure it is patched all the way up.

How long has it been since you drank this potion? Slow-mo and "looking like in jello" are the normal effects of the Blizzard potion. Provided that the potion effects haven't become stuck on somehow, it should wear off soon.

If you take the potion right before a cutscene, sometimes the effects last for longer than they're supposed to. Find a fireplace and meditate for an hour or two, and it should go away.
Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

fireplace! Ha...I couldn't for the life of me remember how to meditate. I will try that here in a bit and see what happens. The potion had indeed worn off, but the affects appear to be stuck on the gameworld.

It has been nearly 6 months since my last Witcher stint-forgive my forgetfulness.

Thanks, wish me luck.

Worked immediately once I meditated. I did watch the potion's duration end, but for some reason it stayed on Geralt. Was actually kind of useful in the couple of fights I got into afterwards.

Thanks!

You’re not starting to regret “fixing” this “problem”, now are you ;> ?
