Aha! That may be where I remember him from. Or some other series or film he was in. Have watched some Malcolm in the middle from way back, but not a lot I think. Breaking Bad looked like a good show though, so will definitely view a few more episodes.

Heroes is another show I really liked, especially the first season. Unfortunately they went overboard later with fan service and such, and it turned to crap as a result. Well, not crap, that's harsh, but it became a bit too chaotic. Then it got cancelled. That first season was great though.

Yea, heroes did get a bit chaotic after a little while, but still very good, just keep watching the community, its the best show ever, but the sad thing is there is going to be a delay for season 4 because the director dan harmon was fired, well sort of, he quit because he wasn't going to be the director just the ideas person, so yea he quit, so season may be funnier or worse depending on the new people, but it does get funnier as it goes along

Other than sporting events, I really don't watch TV much anymore. The only show I watch is Psych. That show just makes me laugh. You are probably more familiar with their big network "remakes" The Mentalist and Elementary.

Psych though, is not as funny if you are younger, as a great deal of its humor comes from references to the 80's and 90's.

Yeah I used to watch Psych. It was very entertaining and quirky, and it IS loaded with pop-culture references.

Seen a few more episodes of Breaking Bad, and it looks like a keeper.

Would like to check out The Wire too, as it's almost universally considered the best show to have gone on TV.

That Breaking Bad lead was in Seinfeld too btw, that's where I remember him from.

Haven't owned a TV since I flew the coop at 18. Means I've missed out on the good stuff when it does come out. Missed out on most of everything actually. I'd rather rent a movie or play games. Lately I've been watching X files and Star Trek on Amazon though.

Joss Wheadons Firefly is excellent, shame it was cancelled without an ending, the movie is not as good as the tv show, arrested development is another one i can vouch for, along with community, family guy, rome, breaking bad, game of thrones, i can vouch for star trek but i prefer the originals over the next generation

A good TV series that I haven't seen listed here yet is Wire in the Blood. I watched it a few years ago but I believe there were 6 seasons. It's a British crime show about a psychologist that helps police solve murder cases by understanding how serial killers think.

Did "serial killers" include politicians waging war? That would have been interesting indeed.

OK so I watched the pilot of Breaking Bad last night. It was entertaining, but didn't think it was *that* special. It was the pilot though, so it's bound to improve.

However, how is this show different/better than others with a similar concept, like that other one "Weeds" (which I also haven't seen)?

What is it that you guys like about this show?

Maybe I'll keep watching, but I'd like to know why you like it.

I don't watch a lot of TV so am probably not the best to ask, and have just watched the first four episodes so far. It's quite different from other shows I've seen though (but haven't seen Weeds, nor heard of it). Time will tell if I keep watching it, but so far it's been allright. The characters aren't your stereotypical bad guys and good guys. I get more the sense that they're fairly normal human beings, with some that have ended up in tough situations that are hard to deal with, or get out of. But like I said, I've only watched a few episodes, so it's not much to go on. People who have seen several seasons will give a more informed reply.

It's really tough to describe what makes Breaking Bad such a good show without saying major spoilers. I suppose it's a culmination of many things which all add up to something unique. I really haven't seen any other TV series quite like it. It just progressively gets more and more complex as the seasons go on. I suppose it's a lot like The Witcher games in that it isn't simply black vs white, good vs evil. Very complex moral dilemmas take place and these dilemmas intertwine with each other in very interesting ways.

Edit: perhaps KoP could elaborate and do a better job of explaining. He seems to have a talent for analyzing such things :)

I've seen the first season of Breaking Bad now, and I quite like it. Very different. Do feel that some of what happens is a bit "out there", but it's a good watch and the lead plays very well. Starting to get more meat on the other characters too, and it seems like many of them have bones in closets.

Some things are diametrically different from what is usually the case in shows and movies on the topic of drugs. Particularly liked this one sequence where Jesse basically wants to get out of this industry (sort of), and then he gets dragged back in by a usually respectable and upstanding citizen in the lead. So far the title of the show is highly apt.

Thank for recommending it guys, it's good to have a show again I can watch without wanting to strangle everybody in it :)

Not checked out any more of Community - but maybe I will at some point.
