They were about Geralt of Rivia too, but everyone thought that books will be about someone else, because Geralt's fate at the end of saga was really complicated (as you know from the games).

Then it turns out that Spakowski actually writes the same plot as the games lol. Does he even like the games? I remember an interview where he said "You must know a lot about the plot to make a game like that" or something but I don't know if he liked it,maybe he just did it for the booze money.
OFFTOPIC:Is the forum acting weird? every time I press backspace it sends me to the previous page even as I type here in the text box.

This is very dissapointing, but not surprising at all. Sapkowski has been always grumpy old man. Doesn't change the fact that Witcher is my favourite book saga of all time though. And also doesn't change the fact that CDP's fantastic sequels are CANON in my eyes, whether Sapkowski considers them that or not.

Im perfectly okay with that because games imho have to do everything they must for gameplay and proper execution, sacrificing whatever is needed.
A book is just the story.
Plus the book doesnt even have to happen after The Lady of the Lake 2, it could totally be about some past adventures of Geralt.
Lol so much hate in the comments on eurogamer, i liked what Sapkowski said, i disagree with "a story can only be contained in a book", but then again, maybe he meant that games could never tell a story as good as a book, wich is absolutely true.

Any writer who knows his trade will make the same demands. Your titles are your stock in trade. If somebody else is going to use them, you need assurance that they will not be used badly. Sapkowski was burned by the TV series and so-called movie. For him to bless CDPR's work is actually a very strong statement that he believes they have done well and will continue to do well by his title.
And for him to say that the games are neither prologue nor sequel nor alternative histories is not mere grumpiness but a flat statement of fact. The canonical history of Witcher Geralt is his to tell, for so long and for so much as he is willing to tell it, and nobody else's.
I don't agree with his statement that only a book can tell a story. But I also concede that it is not an unreasonable statement for a writer of books to make.
