Witcher 2 is again on the Golden Joystick Awards, this time it's the Xbox 360 version for the best best RPG and best gaming moment and the Enhanced Edition on the best DLC category....and they don't have it for the Ultimate Game of the Year tab while trash like Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim ( I know it's an insult to say Skyrim is anywhere near as bad as ME3, but it's still bad ) are.

So go out there and vote for the best sodding RPG and let The Witcher 2 win in those categories!

Wait, it isn't nominated for best game :S Uuuuuuuuuugh my briannz hortz nao.

Well fuck me, I find that insulting as hell. Still, I can't imagine a lot of people take these awards seriously. I mean, ME3 better than Witcher 2?! Yeah sure,

Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

Maybe we need a new word combining the two states... Cry & Laugh... Craugh? Sounds like Craph... make it a silent 'h' and we are there !

Mainstream things get huge following by pandering to the lowest common denominator, that results in most people being at least satisfied. Great things divide people more and will never produce large enough followings to garner that widespread acclaim.

It's a shame, but not surprising.
"Gaming in general is a male thing. It isn't that gaming is designed to exclude women. Everybody who's tried to design a game to interest a large female audience has failed. And I think that has to do with the different thinking processes of men and women." - Gary Gygax
“The evolution of the brain not only overshot the needs of prehistoric man, it is the only example of evolution providing a species with an organ which it does not know how to use” - Arthur Koestler.
"Games lubricate the body and the mind." - Benjamin Franklin

I could care less. CDPR isn't trying to win any popularity contests.

Mass Effect 3 will win RPG of the year for 2012 on every major site. Now THAT's sad.

are

they

fucking

kidding

no one will remember that mess 5 minutes from leaving the place.

This isn't even pandering, it is legit an unmemorable moment, much like the rest of Skyrim's main quest.

Colour me unsurprised.
I have waited many years for the Incline to begin. False prophets I have followed and obscure lore perused, but always there has been nought but the bitter taste of disappointment at the end of my travails. Still I do not give up, I do not falter with weariness. Even if it should never come to pass I will still believe and search, for the Incline is beautiful and it SHOULD exist.

Well it's skyrim and it was decided based on vote numbers...so people voted regardless.

But I hold Joystick accountable for picking that moment. There are so many better moments in the sodding game.

You want to know what TW2 moment was? THE SEX SCENE WITH TRISS.

Not the confrontation at the baths between Iorveth and Roche, not the ending choice of TW2. No a sex scene, granted it was probably the best but it shows their chidlish mentality with these awards ( Nevermind that trash like ME3 was on the list for ultimate game! )

EDIT: Joystick is ultimately a piece of trash.

@Costin

Yeah, I'm aware of them singling out the Elven bath scene, for the second year in a row if I'm not mistaken. Visually, it was a stunning moment, but IMO it takes more than a few pretty roses and a gorgeous redhead to create a truly memorable moment. Especially in a medium that is still fighting to be taken seriously, in a game that should outgrow the crappy "lolol it's for lonely fat basement dwelling nerds" reputation. But, I guess everyone here would agree on that.

Golden Joystick Awards are a joke indeed, and sadly it's a joke that reaches a lot of people and affects young gamers, to a degree, I'd assume. I like Skyrim and still play it, but I don't feel it deserved any of the awards. Though, considering the games it was up against... maybe the results aren't that bad. The whole thing just makes me shake my head and click that X button.

I doubt EA pays these companies money directly. They aren't that stupid.

What I believe happens is that reviewers are bought with stuff like embargo agreements: If you want to be able to put your review up faster then others then you need to give the game a certain score.

Then there are the adds on the site on which the site relies for it's income. Then there's all the free stuff reviewers are given.

Finally most reviewers are too fucking subjective rather then objective on the games they review. Why is that movie reviews bash the living shit out of movies, even good ones, whereas games get a free pass for a LOT of the crap they do?

Also reviewers and game of the year awards tend to be influenced by populism.
