I've bought it though it hasn't arrived yet. From what I've seen, it doesn't exactly take MMOs to the next level but it seems kinda casual and laidback which I appreciate. With school and everything, I need something to play for a couple of hours without getting corpse camped or some shit like that, basically have fun and then go back to studying.

It is pretty weird seeing the level of hype that game has though. People treat it as if it's going to revolutionize the genre but it's just another MMO. I think the flack it gets is mostly from people with too high expectations.

Still, I'm looking forward to it :)
Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

Share your Skyrim characters here! Feel free to post pictures, tell a story, or whatever! It's all about dem adventures boios!

I was about to write few lines with bad points of the game but I wont it just no worth it; I sucks so bad, SWTOR looks like a epic MMO comparing to GW2. I installed it 4x to give it another after another try but no sorry. I wasted 40£ I could rather use on 2 steam games.

Really, it is that bad? I heard it's decent mmo. What's wrong with it?

My husband read a review of GW2 that made it sound truly wonderful. Lines like, "this game is my new gold standard for how an online game should play" and "Having more people around makes the game more fun. Why did it take game designers so long to figure this out?" make it clear the reviewer adored the game.

My husband liked the review so much he sent it to me:

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

There is only 2 things that bother me really about this game the controls (k-board) is very very sensitive some times if you push too long it starts sort of spinning but i guess they fix that in some near future... Second the graphic card has to be really really good i can't play with my graphics card more then medium build.

Makes me damn near cry :(

Other then that it seems to be very interesting and the good thing is that when you help others you get xp too so it's not like you are stealing some one else's thunder when you are helping them :)

I took the Mesmer that to me was very interesting and good thing about this game is the speed that your char runs in Rift i hated walking same as in Star-wars because it was so slow. It was like oh look snail can move even faster then i can kind of thing :D

At the moment i'm level 6 i did put my staff away and continued with a sword much more useful. To every weapon there is a different attack ability and underwater stay as long as you like you wont die because of time is running out or you don't have the right potion.

I really have to disagree.

The setup in this game is completely different from other MMOs. In every other mmo, if other people are on the same quest as you, you hate it, but in this game, it is a positive game. Same for resource gathering, all resources are tuned for you and only you, but they are in the same area as everyone else. No more rushing for nodes. And no more "Kill 5 rats and bring their tails to me" quests and other back and meaningless back and forth running.

There lots of "hidden" challenges around maps, lots of mini dungeon type areas and zerg eating event bosses. And not also chests / places throughout maps rewarding explorer in you with loot / short NPC events / beatiful scenery.

And dungeons have 2 modes, Story and Explore which are different form each other. Well not that different, I mean its the same place with same enemies but bosses differ and other stuff :P

Each race have 3 different main stories with different choies in quests. Whether they are better than all of the SW:TOR ones, can't say. My Charr character's personal story has definitely been better than most from TOR imho.

Dynamic events, while perhaps not that dynamic, but still they are the best ever done in MMORPG history. Better than WAR and Rift.

And not to forget, the main PvP events are awesome and fun as hell! Everything runs smoothly with no problems.

I dont like the combat. I tried all melee classes. thief looks like the best in my opinion. I cant stand looking at warrior or guardian paper sword swinging super fast animation.
if you play ranged class then you can enjoy it more for sure.

On the big fights with 3+ or 5+ people fighting in one big group against mobs, you cant see who is fighting who! or what skills are they using! just flashes! big chaos and explosions! around you! its not aesthetic at all you cant see anything.
character models look pretty outdated/poor its same updated engine from GW1 no question about it, If they are saying its new engine then they are lying. WOW is still the best MMO even tho I havent played it in long time.

quests and world events are cool but I hate melee combat and I refuse to play range class. I dont like the game sorry, Its my 8th MMO I played and I started back when Ragnarok came out in korea. I still prefer Linage 2,TERA,WOW or even SWTOR above GW2. Combat in my book is the most impotent aspect I dont care about events or story.

I honestly gave it a try 4 times but I just dont like it. Did they say development time was 5 years? no way.

If someone is interested I dont mind selling my account for half the price.
Thing im angry about is they dont let you try the game before you buy it!

It's a great MMO, a lot better than any I've played in the recent years, beats SWTOR, LOTRO and WoW anytime. Haven't encountered any bugs and even though the story isn't really captivating I've had great fun playing it the last couple of days.

I agree with this post.

Game has some problems for now(AH is not working, camera is too close and auto banning) but its still one of the best MMORPGs i have ever played.
Game has solid entartaintment value. Exploration is always rewarding, 3W is helluva fun and SPvP is challenging.
Some character story quests lacks, especially Norn and Human ones. But Charr&Asura have splendid story quests. Sylvari quests are in middle ground :)

Personally i just did not find the Sylvari very interesting got bored after few minutes sure their world is pretty and so on but it just was not for me. I like the Northern ppl and the little inventor guys are cool too... They are adorable little things deadly but adorable.

I did not find elementalist very appealing tried it just was not for me... I like the mesmer(same as i guess illusionist) and necromancer ( Sucking the life out of you ) the thief( u can use swords pistols, knives, harpoons etc... ) and i haven't yet fully explored the others but so far i really like this game.

I started a thief and i got a harpoon that you can use underwater i thought hey this is cool killing monsters underwater and i don't have to worry about potions to keep me alive.

I like that the story lines are all different that they are not like ok everything is the same as in the Rift where every one starts from the same place every single time (gets boring after a while) other then that i really like it :)

What i love about this game is that when you make a mage you don't have to go always waving your magic wand so does speak you can use other weapons too and the fact that they kick butt too unlike in the rift where i felt that the mage was more like the support class then anything else.

Lol at Asura Necromancers yelling " I am death incarnate!" my girlfriend just replied "Oh yes,yes of course you are!"

:D

Im playing with a Norn Guardian for PvE and WvWvW.a Charr Engineer for SPvP. Both specialised on burning things :)

This is simply not true. The game is more CPU demanding than GPU demanding. Are you sure it's your video-card that has trouble running this game and not your processor? My rig can run this game on High without trouble. I only get an occasional framedrop (average FPS is 50FPS but sometimes it drops to 15FPS in really crowded areas) but that's it. My framerate is usually above 30FPS, which is good enough for me.

My rig:

Intel Core i7-870 2,9Ghz processor
AMD Radeon HD 5750 1GB VRAM video-card
8GB DDR3 RAM memory

My rig had more trouble running The Witcher 2 than Guild Wars 2.

Glad to hear Elves4me2.

In which realm do you play?

Any European GW2 players here? I play on the European server Gunnar's Hold.

I recently switched to another server; Gandara. My college has a guild there which I now joined (the college where I study in real-life has a GW2 guild and all college members are free to join that guild :D).

Anyway, if anyone wants to add me to their friendlist in Guild Wars 2:

account name: LucosTheDutch
character name: Lucos The Dutch

I play a human male thief.

I think they brought some elements from other games such as the view thing reminded me of that Assassin game when you had to climb on top of the tower and see the world to review the map.... I am not quite sure why they put that over there but hey free xp is always good :D

My favorite char is my elementalist i always find new and creative ways to fry some bandits :D

I got a really really nice drop yesterday it was gloves it had some magical item thinggy going on and it increased my stats very well...

Yeah NCsoft really looked at other games outside of the MMO spectrum to find things they could add to Guild Wars 2 to make it a more fun and diverse experience. The Vistas are obviously inspired by Assassin's Creed, the dynamic events and random boss encounters remind me of Skyrim's random dragon encounters and the way everyone has their unique origin story with their own set of quests reminds me of what Dragon Age: Origins did.

It is great that NCsoft really took the time to add so many different things in the game. And the story quest and how it is presented is really well done for an MMO. When I was following the story quest line I really forgot about the fact that I was playing an MMO. To me it felt no different than other single-player RPGs such as Dragon Age or Skyrim. I really liked that.

My brother also plays Elementalist. I play Thief. He and I really form a good team together. I'm basically mixing the role of tank and DPSer while my brother buffs me and spams AoE spells that harm the enemies around me.
