I'm getting 60fps pretty damn solidly but when I move the camera around it jerks/jumps about. I've been monitoring the frame rate and it's not dropping while the game is doing this so it's not a frame rate issue. Also every time I launch the game from steam it starts going through the first time setup and installing directx then launches the net framework 4 updater. Why does it keep doing that?

Here's my specs:

W7 x64
2500K @ 4.5Ghz
Gtx 670 2GB (factory OC)
Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3
2X4GB Gskill Ripjaws 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24
Samsung Spinpoint F1

I've been gaming and building pc's for years and years so I know what I'm doing... I play a lot of top end games and they all run sweet so I believe this is just a problem with the game. I've seen other people complain about this also but I haven't heard of a fix. Does anyone know what's causing these issues?

Thanks!

I know for a fact that this game does not love OC cards because i have one too and i have problems with it. It has been an issue here many many times. Other then that you might wanna see if you have some toolbars that might prevent it acting normally ( it has been noted here that some of the toolbars have been causing problems)

I'm sorry i couldn't be more help to you but i'm just telling you what i have read here and what i have noticed my self :welcome:

I suppose that's a possibility yeh, but I'm sure it's stable. It's only the factory OC to, haven't pushed it any further. What do you mean by toolbars though? Toolbars for what? Cheers :)

I think (s)he means Windows toolbars, those apps you can run on your desktop :)

The problem with those is that they sometimes respond to mouse movements, even if you're inside a fullscreen game, and when that happens they use your graphics resources to update their display, causing the game to micro-stutter etc.!

If you use any of those, try disabling them all and see if it helps :D

Toolbars that you get from different programs there was once a list here that Tommy went through with some guy when they were trying to find out what was causing the problems on his Pc and they found out that it was few toolbars that were causing the problems.

I know it is here some where the topic but it was few months ago. You could ask Tommy for help see if he remembers :)

Are you guys talking about gadgets? I've never heard of toolbars for windows. I mean I know you get them for web browsers but that wouldn't be affecting the game. The only gadget I have running for windows is the cpu/ram monitor. I am playing with a xbox 360 controller to but I have tried with the mouse and keyboard and it's no different.

This is such a weird bug I've never seen in a game before. My machine isn't struggling to put out a nice constant framerate but it's just all jerky :/

Try disabling that gadget anyway!! Wouldn't hurt to try ^^

Especially sidebars are terrible for gaming, because they expand and contract upon mouseovers (I know you didn't say you got one, just general info hehe)..

Have you tried enabling/disabling vsync to see if there's any difference?

Turning the gadget off did nothing :/ I haven't tried that but I don't want to turn it off because I hate image tearing. I also like the way vsync caps my frame rate at 60 so I don't constantly max out my graphics card. I looked around and read that worked for someone else though as far as the jittering goes. But they still had image tearing even though they capped their framerate. If it just because of vsync then that really sucks because I think image tearing would probably do my head in even more. Hopefully I can figure out something else that could be affecting it. The game seems quite sketchy with animations n stuff also. Like when I walk in or out of a building the camera does this weird thing where it spins 180, then back again quickly. Makes me dizzy! I think I may have got a bad install so I'm just gonna carry on playing it for now then redownload it tonight and see if it helps. Thanks :)

First verify the game cache files and after complete then go to your install directory . If default it should be
C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Witcher 2 and open it and where you see the Redist folder simply rename it to Redist.OLD and that should stop the .NET and dx install everytime you start the game . It will however go through this every time you validate game cache integrity .

The toolbars that were mentioned earlier were for games that would not start because of certain browser toolbars that were installed .

Yep even factory overclocked cards have been known to cause crashes .
Might try checking your user.ini found in the Documents>Witcher 2>config and verify these settings
[MouseInput]
SensitivityX=0.5
SensitivityY=0.5
Smoothness=1

Cheers for the tip on renaming the folder. I shoulda thought of that because I've used tricks like that before. Redownloaded and installed the game and that launch bug went away anyway. The sketchy thing is still there but this game is just a bit buggy. I've had some other weird gameplay bugs. I love this game just like the first one but wish they'd sort out it's problems! It's still playable but a little frustrating that experience isn't quite what it should be. Cheers all.

Do you use a laser mouse? See if there is a hair or dust there.
