All text is missing from TW2 EE for PC.

24.07.2012 @ 13:10 #1

Just bought The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition a few days ago for PC. I installed the game fine and played it before I downloaded the Enhanced update. Today I downloaded the Enhanced update, the 3.1 patch and 3.2 patch one after another when the game launcher prompted me. Now I go into the game, and all text is missing. All the main menu text is gone, and I managed to get into the Arena mode and found that all the dialogue text and dialogue option text is gone too. I've tried the game in every graphic setting from the default low spec to ultra spec. I even tried a custom spec, but all the text remains missing.

I will mention that in the Enhanced Edition update, there were numerous errors about the same thing. I can't remember it exactly but it failed to make a copy of some files, and the options were to retry the copy, ignore it and keep going and to abort the update altogether. The first time this happened I aborted the update then tried again, but came across the same errors. So I just ignored each one, and finished the update. The patches were error free.

P.S. Just thought of a second question. At what settings do you fine people think I should be able to run this game?

Processor: Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU @2.20GHz
RAM: 8Gb
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series ;Intel HD Graphics Family
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 64-bit Service Pack 1

Thanks in advance, to anyone who helps me. :-)

Judging from what you said about errors while installing the EE i would assume some of the files were corrupt . You can look at the provided link to maybe see which ones are failing .
http://en.thewitcher...-md5-checksums/ .

Or claim your witcher or witcher 2 backup copy from this link with the EE already patch in place .

You should be able to reinstall the EE just by clicking the EE patch installer and then let the launcher download the 3.1 and 3.2 .

Re-installing and re-updating the game did solve this issue for me.

3.1 and 3.2 are incremental patches following EE (3.0), so your choice is basically to revert to 2.1 (which you presumably already have the files for), and then download and install the EE, 3.1 and 3.2 patches, or to pick up the GoG backup, which is the latest version.
