I got Witcher EE a while ago and have tried to get into it but the combat is just a colossal turn-off. I'm not sure what exactly it is about it but it's just really bland.

Are the are any mods that change it drastically?

If you feel that combat in witcher 1 is way too easy even on hard difficulty then this ought to fit the bill .

I'll chime in with Tommy and highly recommend FCR. It's an amazing overhaul, and I hope it will improve the experience well enough for you to want to stick with the game and see it through to the end.
