Am I the only one that found those wraiths in the hospital annoying? Died so many times I actually laughed at how easily I died sometimes. I even used specter oil. I was so happy when I finished that quest I didn't even think twice about feeding those guys to the ghost at the end. It was a good way to vent.

Traps and bombs that have a similar effect to Axii are also useful on this one - Red Haze, Fury.

I tried that but my axii hex kept failing, I think it wasn't upgraded enough or something. I used the vigor for Igni, which is how I finally beat them combined with a Yrden every now and then. ›››
Yep igni with a good bit of dodging was how I did it before axill. One thing you need to remember with axill is you have to hold the cast button until it takes effect or damage from mosters knocks you back and you have to do other combat.

At first I died rather quickly as well, but then it turned out hit and run tactics were needed once again.
Simply don't stand around waiting for them to bunch up on you, but keep moving around. Especially if they have t follow you around pillars they get a little stupid and allow you time to recover and take them out one at a time.

I know what you mean. After replaying that section again I remembered how much trouble I had with those during my first playthrough. In my case I finally got rid of the most annoying ones (the duo that you have to fight after jumping down that wall) by running through that narrow passage between two pillars and then setting lots and lots of traps.

Alright, just abuse to kill them. You can make grapeshots with Amethyst dust and Celandane. Make a shit-ton of them, and just bunch the wraiths together and spam the grapeshots. Without any bonuses, they deal 30-40 damage, which can't be blocked or dodged, and will stagger the wraiths.
