PM So I bought the game this week and up until now have pretty much finished all the sidequests I can without going further than "Indecent Proposal", as after that it is obvious I need to begin the Kayran quest. I did not immediately start the Kayran quest after the man in the bar warned everyone and I feel that this is the reason why it won't let me progress.
Every time I talk to Triss, Zoltan or Dandelion I get the same options and banter and after reading various guides I know that Triss is meant to accompany you down to meet Sile. I have gone down to meet Sile on my own and have found only her, the victim of the Kayran and two civilians when, by looking at images of the quest, it looks like there should be more. I can't talk to Sile, can't meditate and wait for an option to pop up and it is doing my head in, I don't particularly want to start again but if need be I will. Is there any remedy to this problem?

I'm puzzled. If you have the EE, the game transports you straight into the conversation with Triss and Sile and the townsmen at the scene of the kayran attack. I don't know how you could get around it.
If you don't have the EE, maybe someone who remembers how this quest worked pre-EE could comment. I suspect if there was a way around it before, you could have broken the quest.

Yeah it didn't do transport me to the cutscene...I'm gonna have to restart I'm guessing?

Do you know which version you have?
The only thing I can think of is the exit you leave by from the bar - you possibly need to leave by the exit that goes straight out to the waterfront.
If you're still stuck, can you upload a savegame to somewhere like mediafire, so that we can see exactly where you are?
