Sword style makes a huge difference, too. If you use Strong style on a monster that needs Fast style, you won't hit anything. If you use Fast style on a monster that needs Strong style, well, you'll hit them, but you won't do much damage.

And depending on where you are in the game, you have to use the right sword. In the Prologue and in Chapter 1, the steel sword is your only option, but starting with Chapter 2, you need to choose the steel sword or the silver sword.

There's a lot of information about this in the tutorial; you can find that information reproduced in The Witcher Wiki.
Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

If you're getting "too fast!" prompts, it may be from double-clicking or button-mashing. With this game, you have to get into the rhythm of the swordplay; once you do, you won't have any more trouble with it.

Geralt attacks in combinations. To get the first hit of the combination, you have to wait until he is on target (sword icon). After the first hit, you have to wait for his follow-through. He'll follow through and come back to guard position with a little flourish, and there'll be a "swish-swish" sound. That's the time the "flaming sword" icon appears, and it's your signal to click again for the next hit of the combination.

Learning to time the combinations is important for two reasons: one, each stage of the combination is deadlier, and there are up to four stages; many enemies will go down with a single well-executed combination. Two, the enemy can counterattack if the combination is interrupted, so Geralt is vulnerable if you miss a combination.

That said, getting the timing of the combinations down is something you learn pretty quickly, and after you do, it won't bother you anymore.

Try to apply diffrent styles on diffrent opponents. For less armoured enemies use fast style and for heavy armed use slow style. Moreover watch the number of clicks as you are to click just once rather than button-mash.

dont forget you can "active pause" the game (space bar by default) to switch styles, without risk of taking too much damage in between.

please, bring back the vs. flash game!
