no offence but hows that original? So far no way i be buying this..
they show you demo with all the available skills in game and using mana potions playing on easy. you change into fish to get access to the building? c'mon! lame as ...Also you jump into someones body and then leave it at anytime to get access to new areas etc? Stealth gameplay? why using teleport to go around the guards then?
Thats not even fair to fight anyone with those skills.. hows that fun?

That's exactly my problem with it, it looks like a mish-mash of ten other games. It lacks that "something" to make me feel excited, including the visuals which are pretty much a mix of Bioshock Infinite and Thief. It better have a really impressive story, otherwise it'll stay a "Hey, let's put everything cool into one game! Masks! Robots! Victorian! Cool trailer song but we'll be original by not using dubstep! Magic!" game. And that would be a shame.

I'm liking the look of this, fairly original premise, with the whale oil driven technology. The plot sounds intriguing too, a framed killer being given the means to achieve his vengeance and perhaps clear his name by supernatural forces. Gives rise to all manner of possible betrayals and hidden truths being revealed, hopefully it's going to delve into byzantine conspiracies and manipulations.

I have waited many years for the Incline to begin. False prophets I have followed and obscure lore perused, but always there has been nought but the bitter taste of disappointment at the end of my travails. Still I do not give up, I do not falter with weariness. Even if it should never come to pass I will still believe and search, for the Incline is beautiful and it SHOULD exist.

Yeah but the guy who frees you seems to be something of a mephistopheles granting you terrible powers, don't think i've seen that done since the original Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain (and then Soul Reaver). It raises the question of why he is freeing you, and what is his motivation, in other words whose tool are you and what purpose is your vengeance serving. I've always liked that setup, granted it's not original, but it is intriguing.

It depends on what you mean by "really impressive story." Various interviews the devs have given make it clear that the game discusses very little of its own back story and that the narrative focuses instead on the player's version of Corvo and how his actions affect the game world. Exposition was built into the world if you want to eavesdrop and read, but impatient players can skip it. It looks like they're also trying to avoid the good/bad/snarky conversation wheel that doubles as a moral compass in some rpgs and replace it with a more organic choice/consequence system (a bit like The Sorrow battle in MGS3, I suppose, only spread throughout the game).
I'm really interested in this game--I love the Thief series--and I'll give it a chance. I have no problem with their originality, if it's successful, being grounded in the combination of elements rather than elemental uniqueness. They could royally screw it up, certainly, but I've seen nothing so far to make me terribly worried. They're not releasing until October, so there's plenty of time to have a few more looks at it.

It's got my attention. The first trailer for it shouted out "Bioshock crossed with Assassin's Creed" and then having the Victorian setting sealed the deal.
Seeing as Bioshock Infinite has been pushed back to 2013, I'm pretty sure I'll get this.
Oh, and uh, there's not that much originality in the games industry guys
take whatever you like and just have fun

Definitely my most anticipated game of this year.
And it reminds you of those games mostly because guys behind Dishonored actually worked on those games like Deus Ex, Thief, System Shock, Half-Life 2 or Bioshock.
In regards to story, I read somewhere, that the woman who voices the Empress was so impressed with writing, that she cried during the shoot. That got me curious.
To me it looks like a dream game. Hope it delivers.

It was probably this podcast at about the 32:30 mark:

April Stewart is the actor's name. She avoids going into detail, but she seems genuinely impressed with the writing.

The presentations are played
-on god mode,
-with quickly and fully regenerating mana (normally it's slower and only regenerates a bit, you have to use potions for the rest),
-with all abilities maxed out (which isn't possible in a single playthrough)
-on normal difficulty, with higher ones making the enemies more aware

So what are you saying is they lying to us? and that demo was just pointless to what final version and normal gameplay will be like? remineds me of few other games that came out end ended up being totall crap.
Obviously we will be playing on Normal or higher difficulty with 1 or 2 only skills. I would love that game if it wouldnt have teleportation and stupid body fusion with any character.. I mean that doesnt make any sense.. you are basically a god in this world.
People are defending the game just becasue its coming from Bethesda studios, if that would be some unknown developer kids wouldnt give a damn..
How many games people wasted money on in the past just to find out final version of the game is just not wht they imagine and hoped for!? Please be always open minded..

I don't give a damn Bethesda is publishing. The game's being made by Arkane. There are people aboard who worked on Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah, Deus Ex, level designers that started out in the Thief community etc. Now THAT's a pedigree.
And what's this about lying? All information I posted comes either from the videos themselves or dev posts.
EDIT: Also, I'd like to say I was originally very sceptical of Dishonored. But all eventually all the gradually released info and a fantastic level of openness and communication from the devs managed to win me over.
