Started Act 2 at last . In dungeon. Only communicator is the condemned elf ( I am really starting to feel for the nonhumans, but then I don't have much of an opinion on mankind so....biased a little).
We play the dice game and the PC crashes on the second part diceroll.
Now i tried this on my son's extremely hot 9month old Alienware PC and it STILL crashed and he has water cooling so I am not certain that it is a heat problem although it crashes to cold and instantly ...one click and its gone.
My inernet searches seem to say that it is a colling problem but I find that a bit funny as I ahve had some quite extended games before in act 1 and no crashes
Anyone have an idea?

Since this isn't a real resource-intensive part of the game, it's unlikely to be cooling. If it were crashing when you loaded the Trade Quarter in Chapter 3, then I'd believe it might be cooling.
So, a few ideas:
1. Are you using any mods? I don't know of any that would make the game crash there, but taking out mods is always the first thing to try if you have problems with your game.
2. Sometimes Witcher saved games become glitched for no apparent reason. You could try loading a previous save and see if you can get past the dice game with the condemned elf.
3. You could upload your saved game somewhere (zip it first, please!) and I'll play you past that part, since I've never had a crash at that place in my game. If it crashes there in my game, too, then we'll know it's a glitch in your saved game, and you'll need to restore from a previous save.

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.
I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.
I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

Thank you Corylea
Okay according to the internet cooling crashes are common in the dicegame(wi 1 & 2) although this was my first such experience(12x now) in Wi 1 or 2. The way the PCs switched off was very overheating in kind.
I tried an external fan at full bore... no use. I even turned off the heater here..winter and <5deg cels but no go.
So, using my son's PC as I am currently babysitting : ( I decided to try the game as soon as I turned on the PC and I rapidly played the dicegame without care(ie win or lose) and managed to get through. I have tried 3x since with no luck as it only works on a cold PC IMHO.
I had tried the virgin game trick as my game is a Gog one so I just made a new file and that game crashed as well about 4x, I have now reverted to my modded game as I have a pass save thanks to whatever god rules these things.
I do think that it IS a cooling thing or a damn good copy of such as people have described huge temp spikes in playing the dicegame although i have no idea why.
