Anyway, I just got killed by Super Smough maybe one, two hits from winning the fight... ›››

Have fun with the Sanctum Guardian on SL1

With the Thief patch out, I'm probably going to take a break from Dark Souls now.

But, here's the current plan: I know I need Solaire's help for Ornstein & Smough. Whoever he targets first, I target too - I already beat both Super Ornstein and Super Smough on my first two playthroughs, so I know both of their movesets pretty well. The important thing is I need to ensure Solaire survives for the longest possible time.

The real problem: the Royal Sentinels before the fog gate. If I don't take them out before summoning Solaire, there's a good chance they'll bring him down to half his health before we reach the fog gate. However, I don't have an idea for beating them. They're real easy with a zweihander, but this time that's obviously not an option - the best melee weapon I can wield is a battleaxe, which has a small range and does little damage.

Sure, I could use great fireballs, but I'm going to need those for the boss fight. I could stock up un an ungodly amount of crossbow bolts or firebombs, but there's no guarantee I'll actually win the boss fight, so that would mean using up a LOT of ammo...

Any ideas?

Took a break from O&S, beat Sif - I figured if I'm going to
, I might as well get the Covenant of Artorias and try taking on the Four Kings before beating O&S. Should be a bit easier actually - that fight doesn't require a lot of mobility so I can use Iron Flesh and pretty much whack away.

Royal sentinel huh? How good are you with parry, if you are good then try to parry their attacks and you receive extra stab that does a lot of damage. The remaining sentinel should be easy then. Or use you firebobs but change stratege for the bosses

Personally I kept Ornstein and Smough together as close as possible to dodge their attacks and them maybe do some aoe damage if they remained close after dodging so didn't use anything, then solo remaining boss. BUT I used a Black Nights Glaive so it was easier for me don't know how battle axe acts in this situation.

One you kill one boss take the other one and be as close as possible cause he uses much less attacks on you then and its easier to dodge them. Its easy if you know moves which you do

Holy crap, you can actually parry Sentinels? I didn't know that, have to try it out. I also bought 99 charcoal pine resin, that should be helpful as well. Still going to New Londo first to get the very large ember.

Sorry man I took Royal Sentinels for other type of mob. Can't be parried or stabbed. Have you tried to roll between their legs. This still should be easier than taking them from front.

Sure, getting behind them is the primary tactic, and it's not a problem. The problem is, I don't have anything that would do reasonable damage against them, which practically turns fighting one into a boss fight in its own right.

Got down to lower New Londo ruins, got the ember, but also, luck smiled upon me and I got a Jagged Ghost Blade from one of the ghosts along the way. This seems to be a really rare drop, since I haven't got one throughout two playthroughs, even doing some farming with the serpent ring. The blade is actually a pretty awesome weapon, and, importantly for me, with very low requirements!

Geez... I farmed that blade for nearly one week for PS3 trophy...
Its really a good blade for thief kind of characters(high crit damage) and if i remember right its cursed so you can hit ghosts with it.

Well, looks like I underestimated the Four Kings, definitely not as easy as I thought they would be. Again, the main problem is my low damage.

That's it, taking a break. Definitely not giving up entirely, but Dishonored'd out soon and I want to taff around in Thief before that.

A few options there. First, you can buy a Purging Stone from either the female undead merchant (6000 souls) or Oswald (3000), but it might actually be a good time to explore the New Londo ruins - in cursed state, you can fight the normally invulnerable ghosts there. There's an NPC there on the roof of a building who can cure the curse for one humanity.

Well, first off, do consider I'm in the middle of a "don't level past 1" challenge.

Unless you beat the bosses of Anor Londo, and Darkroot Garden, you won't be able to get to the boss in New Londo yet, but you can grab some loot there, get a feel of the place and unlock a shortcut for a later visit. As you should realise by now, knowledge is power in Dark Souls - the next time things should be easier.

The only enemy type you'll meet is the ghosts, which take a bit of getting used to fighting - they levitate, they go trough walls, they have a nasty grab attack (note: you can break out of it). Draw them out though, don't let them swarm you, and you should be fine.

Well, for now i beat these areas : Undead Asylum, Firelink Shrine, Undead Burg, Undead Parish and now i'm in the Depths.. so should i go to New Londo Ruins or somewhere else? Or simple get rid of the curse by spenting 3000 souls and then go on in the Depths ? What do you think?

That's quite early. However, I'd say the area you'll open up after the Depths is actually harder and more frustrating than New Londo. So, it's really your choice. Personally, I'd go for the New Londo scouting run.

for those who played the DLC watch this.

It got me thinking about the nature of humanity(The Dark Soul) how it gets stronger in the Abyss. It changed my perspective on the ending about prolonging the Age of Fire. Maybe, the Dark Soul could be used to feed the fire as it multiplies in the Abyss it could be farmed then burned, successfully avoiding the Age of Dark for eternity.

Heads up: there's a new patch. So far, only thing it seems to do is break the fps unlock feature in dsfix. AARGH :/
