I've just finished the xbox version of the Witcher 2, and my opinion of it, remains the same as when I first played it on my PC a year or so ago. "Absolutely marvellous". This is undeniably my game of the year for both 2011 and 2012.

As a multiplatform gamer, one thing that I'd really like to see is a version on PS3. I'm sure similar topics have probably been posted here already, but give some love to the PS3 gamers out there. Many of whom, are like myself, and love RPGs. The truth is, PS3 gamers haven't had the best of luck lately with RPG ports, with Bugthesda's Skyrim being fundamentally and probably irreparably broken (even Fallout 3 is a buggy mess). These guys need a good RPG, and the Witcher 2 could be it.

Please CD Projekt make this a reality. I will gladly buy a third version of this game for the PS3, and when Witcher 3 arrives on all three platforms, I will purchase them all.

Call me a crazy, but a fan, I am.

This has been asked and requested a million times on these forums. It's not likely to happen and eventually it would take up time for their next release, which is probably The Witcher 3. I personally believe they're not going to bother with it since it's utterly pointless to do for the PS3 at this stage.

No. CDP needs to move on to bigger and better things.

As has been stated many times over, PC and 360 are very similar in make therefore it was easier to transistion over to the 360. To make 1 for PS3 would take more time, money and resources than it's probably worth. No offense, I just don't see it happening

If CDPR plans to release future Witcher games on PC's and Consoles then it HAS to port the Witcher games to a Playstation system as well

I already bought both games but if they did a Pack With Witcher 1 + Witcher 2 on One Blu-Ray disk - I would buy it again for PS3

No. CDPR does not have to make a port to the PS3.

If they did it it would be nice for those that don't have an Xbox or PC but it's not necessary and it would cost them more then porting the game to the Xbox did.

Not really. TW2 started on the 360 without the previous. lol They stated at least 2 platform for future games so that's at least PC and the next microsoft console. Porting to the PS3 would be more trouble than what it is worth. Look at the ME2 PS3 sales. Maybe if Sony wise up with the hardware next gen but CDP working with the PS3 hardware this late in its lifetime is a waste of time. Financially it would be unwise considering not only the cost but time it needs to use up.

I think that it would be reasonable to make a PS3 version to get wider audience for TW3.

The question is if TW2 would actually sell enough copies on the PS3 to turn a profit for them. It would cost them more then porting TW2 to the Xbox did ( which I guess could be 2 million dollars without counting EE stuff they added - cinematics, intro, outro etc. ).

I'd rather they start TW3 than spend another year on a port to a console that is near the end of its cycle anyway.

In my opinion scince witcher 2 engine has been ported to mac os x, so it uses opengl, it shouldn't be a big problem to adjust it to ps3, in my opinion in general consoles will be always better for gaming, their harware is designed for this puropse, for 3d graphics, etc. and ps3 and next gen consoles, are great, hopefully, my next device will be ps4, and i hope i'll be able to play some witcher games on it. that's all i wanted to say

DirectX and OpenGL are APIs, they are simply graphical programming interfaces that allow the video-game to communicate with the hardware of your system. Because every PC has different hardware, an API is needed to translate the programming of the video-game to input understandable for your hardware. Basically, you could say that the API (OpenGL and DirectX) is a shell around the engine of the game. That means it's not that difficult to swap from DirectX to OpenGL.

Consoles are an entire different deal. Console games don't use APIs but are programmed "directly to metal". Because every single Xbox has the same hardware, an Xbox game doesn't need an API to interface with the Xbox hardware. The game can simply be programmed specifically for the Xbox hardware. This is what we call "direct to metal" programming.

The PS3 works quite different than our standard PC and Xbox. It's actually quite difficult to program for the PS3 hardware. So no, porting The Witcher 2 to the PS3 is not remotely comparable to porting The Witcher 2 to Mac OS X. Even porting The Witcher 2 to the Xbox360 is a lot easier than porting it to the PS3. Blame it on Sony. They created a fine console with some really nice hardware, but it's complex as hell.

I just bought witcher 2 for my laptop with a gift card I got for christmas. Sadly it lags to bad to be playable even on the lowest settings. I wanted to wait for a ps3 release but I figured it wasn't going to happen. Now that I got it on my Laptop and I can't play it, I really wish some version for the ps3 would come out as I would really like to play this game. I know I'm beating a dead horse asking for it, but I figured I'd voice my desire to play this game.

its not going to happen cost is to high. you can get a PC that will run the witcher 2 just fine for around $700 US if you read up a bit and it will do a lot more then just play games. I use my PC for work as well so its easy for me to justify spending that much as i use it to produce digital art works. my computer cost $1000 and has one of the top end graphics cards in it and core i5 running at 4ghz I built it my self it is vary easy to do.
there's no reason you can't afford something cheaper.
Its a better deal then buying into the next gen of console generation right off bat games are cheaper on PC when you download them as they should be gog and steam sales are 1/3 the cost you pay for a game on consoles. Yes you have to wait a bit for the price to drop but its worth it in the long run
Console games will end up costing around $50 to $60 a game.
you can build a vary affordable computer on a AMD set up the CPU and mother board shold not cost much over $200 US combined that leaves a lot to spend on your video card say around $300 id look at the 660 ti models or 7970 on sale then is just power supply ram 8 gigs is fine for gaming and hard dives or drive and your OS. All you need is a Philips screwdriver and half a brain. if your afraid to build it buy your self you can get help from a local computer store they will build it for you or help you build it your self (totally worth gaining the small amount of knowledge to build it your self) if you want then will likely charge around $80 there are a few place's to shop for parts online newegg in the US if your in Canada I recommend NCIX.

Maybe Sony will learn something form current console generation and make it a lot easier to port from PC to ps4 or what ever there new console is named.
I sure hope so the Sony will likely be the one I buy. I have a vary nice PC with high end graphics card but I do enjoy a lot of the Sony exclusives more so then the Microsoft ones. There is the odd game that i might rather play on a console over the PC. not many but there are a few

They said two platforms . They never mentioned consoles . 2 platforms can be PC and MAC , May be PC and some other console etc but PC version will always be safe bet . I think you should be fool to wait for console release . Just get PC and enjoy The Witcher 3 , Star Citizen , Elite Dangerous , Eternity , Cyberpunk 2077 , Wasteland 2 , Rome 2 . Lot of stuff coming out .

Select texture memory size to high instead of low . The lags will go away .

I think they should

a ) release TW2 on PS3
b ) bundle TW2 with TW3 on PS4.

Why should I buy TW3 when you didn't bother with giving us TW2?
The first game if fine, but the 2nd game won't be able to run on my comp.

You shouldn't make unreasonable demands. We live in a world where newer games tend to push our hardware and I love them for it.
Most of the time, people complaining are those that get things bought for them, unemployed (see school going kids).

If you are employed, save your goddamn money for better hardware. Do research before buying any product. Know what will be compatible beforehand. Otherwise you will just cry yourself stupid later.
