PM please help. i'm doing the kayran quest on pc and cant complete this, been at it for hrs. i am able to cut off 4 tenticles and get to ride on one of the 2 main tenticles, hitting left mouse key as told then i fall off. i've tried hitting spacebar as someone said but same thing happens just fall off and nothing. what am i doing wrong!

The sequence is:
Right-click to mount the tentacle. This is the one I usually find frustrating. It's a fast QTE that comes up while you're trying to protect yourself.
Left-click repeatedly to stab at it. Some say you must not overclick on this one, that only 4 clicks is enough, and that overclicking can mess up the dismount QTE.
Space bar to dismount. If you are getting the other QTEs but not this one, see the suggestion above: not stabbing at the tentacle too many times. If you get the QTE but the game isn't accepting your keypress, try holding it longer. I've found that a quick hit of the spacebar often does not register.
You can disable "Difficult QTEs" if the game on your machine is not responding well to the QTE keys. That leaves only the second (stab at the tentacle) QTE.

I have a different problem. Yrden snags the first two tentacles easily enough. After that, one of two things happens - either a side tentacle starts sweeping horizontally (completely impossible to avoid unless hiding back by the feet under the bridge), or the tentacles aren't even slowed down when they hit a Yrden. By that, I mean they bounce off the ground and are back in the air. At one point I managed a line of three Yrdens right next to each other, and the tentacle went right through them. I'm playing on easy with every buff I have, and and still getting smeared. Frankly, I'm about to quit completely out of sheer frustration. Any advice?

After the second tentacle, you need to move round the front of the kayran and go for the tentacles on the other side. You can only get tentacles that have the bump on them - it sounds like you're trying to get those without the bump.
So two on the left, one on the right (as you approach the kayran).

Thanks for the advice, it worked about half the time (the other half the ones with the bumps bounced right out of the Yrden). When I do manage to slice three, even with difficult QTEs disabled the ride doesn't happen, just more tentacles slamming down.
I play games for fun and relaxation after an 80 hour work/school week, not for continuing frustration. Thanks again for the help, and I'm done with this game. Rating 0 out of 10.

Problems with things not registering or happening the way they're supposed to in this fight tend to be a matter of insufficient hardware. Lowering the resolution to 1280x720 and playing windowed alleviates the problem for many, and for the others, there are plenty of people around here who are willing to download an uploaded save and send it back after the fight.
I'm not here anymore, but there are still three ways to find me. First, you can go into a room with all the lights off and say my number three times while looking into a mirror. A bit macabre, admittedly. The second way would be to post a craigslist ad for anonymous sex, but don't be writing checks you can't cash, sweet stuff. Ahem. The third and most tasteful method would be to just check out my site where I review stuff because I'm a hyper-judgmental human being.
