PM need help on how to beat this giant octopuss. keeps telling me thats sound like use a airgun to trap the beast. also is there a way to comstomize my controls on the key borad.

"Yrden. Trap it with the Yrden." It's the "trap" sign (on the 6 key, if you haven't changed your mapping).
What you have to do is notice the tentacles that have red swellings. Get under one, cast Yrden, and get away just before you get slammed. When you trap a tentacle, hack at the swelling until you sever the tentacle.
The way to survive getting slammed is to use Quen (8 key). A player who is experienced, quick, and lucky may survive without Quen. Most of us have to keep recasting Quen.
After you have severed three, you have to follow some QTE prompts: jump on one of the two front tentacles, stab at it for a while, then cut it off.
The Kayran will then knock down the ruins of the bridge, which will form a ramp. Run up the ramp to get the finisher.

Key mapping is controlled by the "Input settings" dialog. Launcher -> Options -> "Input settings..."

On a side not...it's a bit hilarious that he understood "airgun" when she yelled "Yrden".
