Now who is that fine commentator? I also disagree with save importing. Its when handled correctly but I find it to be ultimately pointless and a waste of resources. ›››

I personally will not play W3 unless it has a save import. I am tired of gaming companies making stories in which you expect a follow up but then in that follow up your choices become meaningless.

I do not want for W3 to do to the entire witcher series what Mass Effect 3 did to the entire ME series for me. As in make me not give a shit.

I don't expect anything grand with save imports but they should at least have better recognition of your past alignment/choices from TW2 unlike TW1->TW2 which had issues of continuity with Order and Scoia'tael path imports(more so the latter than the former).

I think actually that is the most important thing with regards to imported choices, that your protagonist get's trated differently depending on the choices he has made in the past. The problem with the faction choice in TW1 isn't that that Yaevin for instance doesn't show it's that Roche doesn't give a shit if you sided with him and you become best buddies with him on his path? I mean really the guy who has lost soldiers whom he considers family to Scoia'Tael has no problems working with someone who helped them?!

Yeah and there was lost potential for some unique dialogue like perhaps a Geralt who had sided with the Scoia'tael in TW1 using that past history in order to try to win favor with Iorveth after the arachas fight. Not to mention, how interesting an Order -> Iorveth path could have been if more was done with it(ex. Geralt explaining/rationalizing his change of heart).

Sorry to say that having read that PCGamer list, the blokes arguing for a lot of dumbing down. If you can't be arsed to read the journal when the game tells you to, or approach life and death combat as something serious then that's your fault not the games. As for having things explained to me more clearly, definitely not, one of the joys of the witcher is finding the subtle hints and working things out in your own mind. That's why we're still arguing about Roche vs Iorveth and the culpability of prince Stennis. I don't want these things presented in the usual blatant fashion, there's nothing wrong with treating customers like they have and are using a brain.

Save/Import features i'm fine with so long as they fit in the story being told.
I was once asked by a journalist what my thoughts were on the modern world slipping into ignorance and apathy, I told him, "I don't know and I don't fucking care!"

Well to me the important thing is that the main story elements and characters get brought over, but trying to tailor each players experience is an almost impossible goal and not worth the effort imo. Bioware tried like hell for it to matter in ME2, and the only real benefit I felt was the extra credits you got. Same with TW2.

Witcher 3 Story Suggestions

The list on pc gamer was a good one and I hope CD Projekt takes heed of that advice.
I didn't hear anything about dumbing down, just a clearer story arch, explanation of characters ( and why you should give a damn about them), better balancing of difficulty ..
I don't see save importing being anything big tbh, because it would mean they have to develop 2 games ( or at least a lot of content that approaches 2 games),it would also mean that the witcher 3 would have less content/quality because they have to spend a lot of resources into making sure they close the archs of stuff people did in the previous games If that is the case I would say no, just do it like the witcher 2 with maybe somesmall references/dialoque options

The story arc and characters are extensively developed and explained in the game; demands that they may be made clearer for the purpose of satisfying players who cannot be bothered to make use of the way they are developed (conversations, books, and flashbacks) are not well taken. CDPR should remember that not all customers are right and ignore such demands.

There is no reason to make a game for willfully ignorant players just because some reviewer thinks it might create a greater audience.

It would be awesome combine TW1 and TW2. In my opinion, TW1 was more "Witchery" then TW2. TW2 was too much epic, and Geralt isn't an epic hero. Soundtrack from TW1 was better, more atmospheric I think.

-Posibily to be drunk, like in TW1
-more sword fighting styles like TW1
-more minigames would be good:-)
-contracts in TW1 makes me feel like a true witcher, this could be back
-improoved alchemy system
-talents like in TW1
-if Geralt can have some home, where he will return, it can be Kaer Morhen
-more erotic scenes! (TW2 was great in this way)
-Cutscenes like in TW1, not a caricature
-no multiplayer!!

I wholly agree with both.

Why not? They already made two different games with The Witcher 2, and they did it brilliantly. Instead of making you choose which path to follow at the end of chapter one, your choice is taken from the previous game. However, I don't think the story they want to tell, and the place it will probably take place in, will be very much affected by the fact that Vergen is indipendent or under Kaedwen, or if it's controlled by Saskia or Stennis, or if Henselt is alive or dead. I also can see the difficulties of having all the choices matter, so I think some minor references like different reactions, small quests, or some character appearing (like the guy that gives you Thaler's message, or Aryan in chapter three) would be adequate enough for me. But only if it fits the context, I don't want to see someone in Nilfgaard just because I saved them in the previous game, and I believe that having to make new choices, more relevant to the new setting, would be better for the story.

If you as a developer are going to make a story moment which by all rights should be different depending on what choice you made the previous game but isn't because you didn't implement then you are just lazy.

Now if The Witcher games were stand alone games I wouldn't care, but they are not stand alone games. Each game is a continuation of the previous and this applies a lot more to TW3 rather then TW2.

As for Bioware. You know what for all the shit Bioware and for all the bad ways they handled some import decisions they still did an amazing job with others: Mordin and Wrex stand out here, as do Tali and Legion and their respective plots on Tuchanka and Rannoch.

I am not asking for a different path in the game based on previous choices in fact I don't expect TW3 to be in the north, but what I DO expect is for characters ( including Geralt ) to act differently depending on the choices.

A Geralt who chose Roche would not be the same as a Geralt who fought with Saskia.

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly but aside from deep water I never really noticed invisible walls. It seems like they made sure to put cliffs/fences/logs etc in any direction they didn't want you going to avoid the use of invisible walls that would make it less immersive.

On that note, I would like to be able to swim.

I honestly don't feel the need for jumping and swimming. The animations for jumping around in third person always looked very silly and never convinced me; going for a bath with two swords on your back and a pack full of loot and monster pieces would be both unwise and unrealistic, considering that the waters might also be populated by drowners and the occasional Kayran. I'm okay as it is now, with climbing, leaping across small gaps and walking in shallow water.

And "New Game+"? Oh, come on. We really don't need that. You can always "cheat mod" if you really want it.
