So due to the EE I decided to start a new playthrough. I got to Floatsom and after the failed hanging scene, I visited the notice board, got my notices and headed to the bookstore. Einar Gausel was in the bookstore, I talked to him, changed my hair, bought my books and decided to stop playing.

I returned later, loaded my file (in the snapshot you can see Einar Gausel right there in front of me) but when the loading finished Einar Gausel just disappeared.

I looked around town for hours, at night and during the date. I meditated outside and inside the bookstore - nothing! He's just went poof! I loaded a previous save that I made just before I picked up the contracts from the notice board and headed straight to the bookstore and he was there.

The problem is now that I progressed a bit into the story and I need to defeat him for poker dice but he's gone again. Only people in the bookstore are the two dudes that want to do the experiment on you. Again, I searched everywhere during the day and at night. I enabled tracking on the quest and nothing. He's nowhere to be found!!

Any ideas on how to make him respawn? I cannot move forward with the poker dice quest and it's pissing me off! And before anyone asks, I am like 1 hour into Floatsom. I haven't even spoken to Cedric yet, which means Letho is alive etc etc.

In 2.0 he was usually walking around in the streets nearby when he wasn't at the bookstore. Have you checked nearby dwarves?

I'm afraid so, I have checked every dwarf in this town and believe me I have memorized how he looks!

The weird part is that as I wrote above in the wall of text, that even if he's right in front of me and I exit the game and load a save, he just dispawns. So I am smelling a bug here...

Oh my god I am having this EXACT problem. I hope someone gets back to you on this.

I have a theory as to why this is happening. But it is not proven yet.

The two guys who want to do the experiment on you, gaspar and farid, if you agree to it, they will go into Einar's house. When they go in, Einar disappears. I don't know why this is. I have two saved files about 5 minutes apart. The first save file has Einar, the second, only five minutes later, he's gone. And the only thing i did between those two saves is talk to gaspar and farid.

Also, check your journal, under character description. Is there a picture of Einar next to his description? Mine didn't have a picture, which is ridiculous because I've met him, and had my haircut TWICE from him.

Maybe some character models got mixed up during the enhanced edition migration... Cuz I'm seeing some dwarves who look A LOT like Einar walking the streets, but can't talk to them.

Yea this definitely sounds like a bug. Maybe post this on the technical support section?

Really hope this gets sorted out because I really want to get the hunter's armor which you can only get after the dice quest.

What I am going to do is just head straight to Einar, buy the books and head to the inn. Do the first steps of the dice quest till after Einar and then progress normally (probably without talking to the experiment guys). If Einar disappears after I have both the quests and books, then so be it.

I don't think this falls under the tech forum but worth a try. I guess there's no section to report bugs?

I think it's probably something to do with him turning barber all of a sudden...

There's definitely something weird going on. I just followed him around the block several times with no talk button/nametag appearing, even though the Dice quest was at the point where I needed to meet him.

Anyway, this worked for me:
- Didn't try to see him, speak to him, or speak to the two guys who offer you the strange substance until I'd done the dice quest.
- Did the dice quest up to the point where I needed to speak to him.
- Spoke to the two guys.
- Went into the shop. He was finally there this time.
- Played dice.

I just played this, and it worked fine.

Talked to the jokers who want to experiment on you, and accepted their substance. Watched them walk into Einar Gausel's place. Went into Einar Gausel's; Einar Gausel was there, and we played dice.

I think the problem may be that Einar Gausel goes wandering after closing time, and won't talk or play dice then. Try his place during business hours.
