First of all I would like to thank the team on doing a fabulous job with The Witcher 2 - Enhanced Edition. I am loving every single moment of it so far!

I take great pride in the games I choose to play and most of the time opt to play on the hardest mode. This is my first play-through on difficulty Dark. It's bloody challenging but very rewarding.

Now unto my question... I completed the mission "Scent of Incense" - I choose to give the right formula and was lead blindfolded to the cave. The mission ended with me leaving the cave without having to kill anybody. I checked my progress in the menu and saw that the mission was completed! Hurray!

I just fought Letho in the Elves cave and ended the scene where he chooses to let my live. Letho drops the sword and walks out. Moments later Iorveth comes in and wishes me luck on my quest. What follows is that he mission progress gets updated, as usual, but I also receive another update where the previous completed mission "Scent of Incense" is marked as FAILED!

I have reloaded my save file, just before the Letho fight-scene, several times but with the exact same outcome! The "Scent of Incense" mission goes from COMPLETED to FAILED!

Any idea what could be causing this? I don't see how the one mission is related to the other.

When I scroll down my mission list I just get irked by that one FAILED mission that I previously completed.

I know it's annoying, but don't worry about it. You KNOW you succeeded, whatever Dandelion says

Well, thank you for the quick reply! I will have to put this irk aside and look forward to all that this wonderful game has to offer!

I think it always happens if you don't kill the people in the cave. They give XP and they were from a...familiar organization, so there's plenty of reason for killing them anyways.

The conclusion that annoys me with that quest is if you give him the correct formula and THEN kill them all. It's a quest success and feels good, but Dandelion's journal entry is quite scathing because he apparently didn't know about the bodies.

This game absolutely warrants a second play-through, in that case I will make not to spare a single soul in that cave!

Same exact thing just happened to me, oh well i plan on playing through this gem of a game multiple times.
