my printer's broke, so i tried editing the confirmation via Paint to add my email and the unique code,
signed it as well (lol, try doing that with the Mouse)

i hope they'll accept that.
if not, I'll just crawl back to steam in a week or two.

Hello everyone!

My friend has been generous enough to provide me his retail copy of his cd key. However, I'm afraid to activate it on gog as I'm afraid that my cd key will affect his ability to play.

Example : We both have witcher 2 installed on our computers. His retail, Mine gog.

Are we still able to play at the same time? Are the two copies completely disjointed from each other? Or are they both tied to one CD key and only one copy may be active at any time?

Thank you!

i have it on steam and couldn't find the key so i filled that form with my nick on steam and email and got:
"We received your request for a replacement Activation Code needed to redeem your free backup copy of The Witcher 2 from GOG.com.
Within the next 72 hours an email will be sent to you with our decision regarding the issuing of the replacement code."
does it mean that ill get it on gog or that they'll send me the key in 72 hours ?

In your Steam profile you should have access to purchase history i would save the page and send that as confirmation of purchase .

Yes, you can play, except of arena rating post. But it's cheating! You friend do bad, so you need to buy own copy of this masterpiece game and support developers to be fair. :3

Also thanks CPR for great job. Now I have my precious Premium Edition, icon in Steam with achievements, and one more icon in my GoG.com account. I'm sad some time that I had no free money to buy collection edition at release. But hope to achieve this may be at Witcher 3 release :D

The GoG version is a backup copy for the retail one, and both should be owned by the same person. If your friend has given you his retail version, then the GoG copy is also yours, not his.

They said 72 hours. Give them time - they probably have to check manually and there's probably a large backlog. The backup will still be there later, and you can still update and play from your current version while you wait.

What do we do if we don't have a printer? Can I just show my e-mail from steam with my name and such in it and just upload it to the backup copy thing?

Hello, so I was just wondering. I traded for my Witcher 2:EE copy off of steam only to then receive a copy of the witcher 2 that is region-locked in my country. I was wondering if there was still any way to retrieve the cd key of this material just so i could have a gog copy that may work on my system..? is that at all possible? i know I should've done double checks or whatnot but I never had problems with other games that were (RU).

Please tell me what to do, I really do want to play this game and I did trade some really good games just so I could play this one. Any help would be tremendously welcomed. :(

I succesfully redeemed my code using confirmation email i got when i bought the game on steam, and added my backup copy to my account on GOG. I also have the first witcher on my steam account, so i tried entering the product code of my first witcher in the same place. It said that the product code is valid and i can press "Continue" to get my witcher 2 copy. If this was not a mistake in the system then i'm afraid there would be people who would use this to get Witcher 2 using keys from the first game. I, however, can't use the "redeem your backup copy of witcher 2" field now, and i dont know if it saying that the cd key was valid had been caused by me already having an activated copy, but please check if it really is possible to get The Witcher 2 using The Witcher cd-key. If i have any mistakes in my post, then please forgive me, because english is not my native language.
P.S. I really appreciate what you CD Project do by adding tons of content without asking to pay for it- it is so much better than having to pay additional 30$ for DLC's that are actually just content that was cut out from the game. You are an awesome company, i love The Witcher series and i love you. Thank you for everything you do.
