Please help with XBOX 360 controller issues

01.04.2012 @ 00:37 #1

So I'm trying to use a 360 controller to play the game. The computer recognizes it, but the game will not. The latest driver is installed and my PC recognizes it as "XBOX 360 controller for windows". The game will not recognize it in the launch menu or the in-game controller settings.
Thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear you have that issue. Have you ever used motioninjoy? I remember it didn't allow me to use my 360 controller because it was automatically defaulting to a virtual x-input controller. Maybe that's the case?

I'll try it, but I thought motionjoy was only for PS3 controller

Sorry about that, I mean't if you have used it then motioninjoy could be causing the problem. If not, then maybe you should reinstall the drivers?

@TheGodfather: That's odd! O_o I play TW2 on my pc using the X-Box 360 controller and never had any problem. Which OS have you on your pc?

This is what i do. Follow the sequence below as I believe pressing any keyboard key defaults control option to keyboard.

Plug in the controller. Start TW2. Press the (A) button whilst intro screens start to skip them. Use d-pad at menu and press (A) button to select menu choice.

Also try the following.

Main menu, options, control options and change keyboard to gamepad.

I have the same os and it works fine. And the suggestions of ybantraw are good. Honestly, it's odd. If all the games work except TW2, there's a system error, maybe related to installation issues. Try to re-install the game. Often, it solves troubles such as yours! ;)

I am having the same issues - Windows 7 OS, can't switch control option from keyboard, have a 360 wireless that works for all other games on the PC. Is the only alternative really to re-install this entire beast of a program, updates and patches and all?

Edit: Took a shot at re-installing the controller first, which for some reason seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the ideas everyone contributed here, was useful to have an idea of where to go.

TW2 manual install guide from the DVDs? See my post here

TW2 Enhanced Edition Patch install errors? See my post

(not for Steam) Enhanced Edition gives you "application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)" error? See here

Are you using the latest drivers for your device
http://steelseries.c...pport/downloads
If the game is still not seeing your controller you may need an emulator Just do a Google for XBOX360ce vibmod .

Ok now for the x360 ce vibmod . After extracting to a folder then copy and paste these files in the witcher 2 bin folder . The x360ce.ini, xinput1_3.dll, and XInputTest.exe . Might also need the dinput8.dll

Plug in the Steel series you will be using.

Run XInputTest.exe and check to make sure your buttons are mapped correctly.
