Try out the camera sensitivity. It could have affected the mouse as it is.

I have tried 3 different mice, and they all have this acceleration. I'm talking acceleration that makes a fast mouse pad sweep move the reticle a couple of centimeters, while a small and slow movement has the reticle jump miles.

Don't have this problem with any other games. "Enhanced mouse precision" is turned of in my hardware settings, and the speed is only a little above medium. In game i have my camera sensitivity on 1, but have changed it to every setting and there is still present acceleration. I recently SLI'd my 560ti, so i tried playing with a single GPU but i still have the same problem. Really have no idea what's going on.

That is weird ??? Total shot in the dark, but do you have a gamepad plugged in?

Still have the problem. I cannot for the life of me get rid of this game breaking acceleration. I mean i can't hit targets in combat it's so bad.

I don't know what the problem is. No other game i have reacts this way. If anyone else has suggestions, i'd be glad to hear them.

Nothing? No one has any idea how to fix this? What could be causing this?

And whoever put "Solved" next to the title should take it down. I've been trying to fix this for the past week, it's far from solved.

Someone more than likely clicked POMÓGŁ not knowing that it marks the thread as solved . Removed it .

Are you using a standard Microsoft mouse or one that came with it`s own software ?
A few things to check would be uncheck Enable pointer shadow in the Pointers tab , In the Pointer options tab enable or put a check in the Enhance pointer precision but do not put a check in the Snap to or Display pointer trails boxes .

I'm having the same problem with negative mouse acceleration when using the OTS view. In all the other modes, isometric, interacting with the journal, the mouse works exactly as it should. Because of the neg accel, OTS view is completely unplayable, aiming precisely is impossible as the mouse moves too fast (when moving small amounts) and making any kind of quick turns or 180 snaps is impossible (the faster I mouse the mouse, the slower it moves in game).

I've tried adjusting camera sensitivity, it just multiplies the negative acceleration problem.

I don't have this problem in any other games. I do recall having the same issue in Mass Effect (1 and 2), and it was fixed in that game by editing an .ini file and setting all mouse acceleration and smoothing to 0, but unfortunately this game doesn't have any (obvious) files to edit.

I'm using Win7 64-bit, Logitech G500 mouse running at 2000 DPI @ 500Hz. Acceleration in the Windows Mouse applet is 0 (middle), acceleration is also disabled in the Logitech control panel. The horrid Enhanced mouse precision is also unchecked. I've also tried the option in the Logitech drivers to use the Windows mouse acceleration options instead of their own, no change.

My physical mouse movements are 1:1 with screen's cursor, everywhere except in the game using OTS view.

Ward Dragon asked about a gamepad: I do have an XBox 360 plugged in, unplugged it and started the game again, no change.

I have the agree with Gibb_Geralt that this mouse problem is game breaking. I wish you could return games on Steam.

I had this issue wen i first installed the witcher on my win 7 PC.

But here is the funny thing I installed FCR back then and since then i never noticed mouse problems.

So i just now tried un-installing FCR: mouse gets the problems back.
Installed FCR again: problem gone...

I just reinstalled the game, but unfortunately it didn't fix anything for me. Unless the dev's can fix this issue, there's no way I'll be buying Witcher 2...

Witcher2 is on a different engine...

anyway, ummm, somehow the first step should always be "disable and _quit_ every running application before running the game" did you do that? everything! antivir, mouse apps, fraps, afterburner, rivatuner, raptr, bandicam, gadgets, everything so that your system tray should only feature the clock, also open Task Manager and force quit some apps there too, those _not_ made by Microsoft/nVidia/AMD only

reset ( not customize !) _all_ the Keyboard and Mouse settings in every Control Panel dialog

get the mouse polling rate to 125Hz

if on Steam, disable the Game Overlay

also, it does not cost you anything to install FCR as sanamia said ( actually since it brings some tweaks and fixes some bugs this should be a must anyway ), just remember that FCR-EASY difficulty level is the old default Normal ;)

(not for Steam) Enhanced Edition gives you "application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)" error? See here

I've disabled Steam overlay and terminated every process and service expect for the bare essentials, changed the polling rate to 125Hz, reset the kb/mouse settings and installed FCR... no change, I still have huge amounts of negative mouse acceleration.

I even tried 2 different mice, same results with those too.

The Full Combat Rebalance mod, which sanamia said fixes his mouse issue, but unfortunately not mine.

I have identical problem. Just uploaded Witcher 2, Windows 7, using Steam. I will catch up and try disabling Steam Game Overlay (not sure how this is done, but will try to figure it out). And download FCR.

This is about Witcher1, are you sure you posted in the right place? FCR is a Witcher1 Mod BTW!

Well I'm giving up on the The Witcher series.

I've tried everything I can think of to get this game to work correctly. Even borrowed a friends GOG.com version of the EE edition (after wiping out all the settings from the HDD/registry and deleting the Steam version first), but still have the same exact problem, even the FCR mod didn't help.

Since the devs don't seem to want to fix their game, I'll not be rewarding them by buying TW2.

Well only way to fix it prob is by using an external program for your mouse OR get yourself a 14 year old mouse without this "hyper sensitive speed crap",, settings in windows control panel will not make any changes..

i got a wow mouse and installed the Cataclysm program and changed the CPI Value to 5000 and that made mouse speed in game slow enough to be usable.

without this setting the speed on the mouse will be so fast just moving it 1mm will turn you 90 degrees in game.
