I liked ME2 more than ME because of companions. Jack is my favorite female side-character of all time. ›››
Heh, I hated her. If I wasn't a perfectionist, I would let her die at the end.
I guess that is because I never really talked to her. My opinion may have changed if I did that, but I didn't want to do that.
I'm nearly at the end of the game. My friend already finished and I know the endings. I understand the frustration with the ending, but the game as a whole is still fantastic and would even be worth a 9/10. Will write a full "review" once I finish it. I wanted to today, but I spent 10 hours on my feet and got to my PC at 7pm.

She won't win any popularity contest, that's for sure. But for me she is the most complex character in ME, but to see that you need to talk with her a lot or maybe even romance with her.

Guys, look at this video and tell me Bioware hasn't just trolled us all. ›››
Interesting. So, my questions are:
1)$5.99
2)$9.99
3)CDPR-style (free) so they are perceived as bros and rejoin with their Biodrone army pissed off by the ending, taking even more control over their minds?
Pain is an illusion of the senses, despair an illusion of the mind.
For this theory to be true they would have to have good writers with a grasp of subtlety and actual skill to make it all work. However, as proved by the number of plotholes that come up even before Shepard comes back to Earth I sincerely doubt this could be the case. I posted a gigantic list of the idiocies out there in some other thread that I and my friends noted throughout the game. No way, that company capable of so much self-contradiction could came up with something intruguing and fitting into the larger scope of things.
I am sure as hell that Bioware is going to do the indoctrination gimmick now, that the deluded fans came up with this nonsense, and claim that "they had planned it all along". As Garrus would put it - "Yeaaah, riiight...".
What is being done is just damage control - a feeble attempt to defend the brand, Bioware so royally fucked up. What saddens me is that people are going to actually buy it (both, the "planned" indoctrination twist, and the DLC), and hail Bioware as the greatest storytellers ever further reducing the RPG genre into a cesspool of intellectual poverty (for the lack of a better phrase).
And even if the indoctrination theory was planned all along (which is the snowballs chance in hell) - I can't think of more amatourish approach than the way it was all handled in ME3.
Edit: I would believe the whole indoctrination on one condition - that it started with Shepard being blasted at the beginning of ME2. This would explain a lot of outright idiotic events in both ME2 and ME3.
There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.

It's pretty obvious that they had originally planned for Shepard to be indoctrinated in the game, actually. That Final Hours app supposedly includes some stuff about how they were having trouble making a section work where he's being controlled by a Reaper. Most likely scenario is that they had planned the whole thing out, then gave it up at the last minute and left all the little clues in there as per the "lots of speculation!" goal they were shooting for. Then they just painted over their original idea with space magic and called it a day.
I'm not here anymore, but there are still three ways to find me. First, you can go into a room with all the lights off and say my number three times while looking into a mirror. A bit macabre, admittedly. The second way would be to post a craigslist ad for anonymous sex, but don't be writing checks you can't cash, sweet stuff. Ahem. The third and most tasteful method would be to just check out my site where I review stuff because I'm a hyper-judgmental human being.

The hell would they do that shit for? They have a semi-working idea and they just abandon it... for some cheap internet speculation? And substitute it with absolute garbage? Whaaaat?! Why? Are they suicidal? Even pulling a stunt like that is insulting.
I don't know the details, and I am not going to buy the app just to check, but I really doubt the "controlled by the reapers" referred in any way to the ending itself. And if it did... then god, they are trolls.
There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.
Any of the devs said that, or is it speculation? Also from what I know devs on BSN have this annoying habit of contradicting themselves. ›››
One dev said that. I won't judge if he was right or not but he is dev, for me it's better than video on YT.
Also all those replies on blog from dev team and Muzyka doesn't mention indoctrination theory at all. They would mention it somehow to defend their vision of ending. On blog they only talk about official ending, not about indoctrination.

So we are back at square one. I don't believe any of it - I don't believe "indoctrination" was planned. But I am sure as hell the rEApers can't pass on opportunity to save what was left of their franchise - and yes, sooner or later they will take advantage of contradictory information (look what's going on here - you and 227 are saying opposite things) and say they had it all worked out. DLC incoming...

Yeah DLC is coming. If you ask them on twitter if there will be DLC they will link you to Muzyka's post with hint that they will announce something in April.
Also I know what 227 is talking about. I read this in Final Hours too. They said that they have one ending about Shepard being controlled but they decided to drop this idea because of many reason.
Also they mentioned that they had very many options how to end trilogy and they decided about this ending just few months before release. That's why ending is so stupid. It's obvious that there will be a lot of plot holes and speculation if you make a game for 8 years and you don't know how you will end this until last few months before release of third game.
Sapkowski once said that ending was the first thing that he made when he was writing the Witcher's Saga. That's why when I finished it, my first thought was "Now all of this have sense! How could I miss all those hints about XXX. It was brilliant!".
In case of Mass Effect it was opposite reaction.

Here's the quote I'm basing that on:
"And even in November, the gameplay team was still experimenting with an end-game sequence where players would suddenly lose control of Shepard's movement and fall under full Reaper control."
EDIT: What Aver said ^.
Obviously they didn't plan this all out in advance. They're not sitting on some "real ending" DLC that they've been planning on releasing all along, and nothing they've done in dealing with this has been particularly intelligent. The only question left is whether or not they'll try to take credit for something they didn't actually do (or finish doing, I guess). Either way, they lost/are going to lose fans, whether it be for abandoning several better ideas for the ending, the shameless fan service, or their stubborn insistence on playing coy instead of just being straightforward with their fans.

Thing is with regards to the ending that they did have an original idea to go on from when they started development, Drew K mentioned the ending always supposed to be about Reapers and Relays, which it is actually.

Seriously they planned to have ending about Reapers in ME? No way! Yeah they had basic sketch but they never had the most important details (like motivation behind Reapers - they had few option, Matrix, Black Matter etc.). They decided about it few months before release and for me such thing should be decided since beginning.
