There are favorite entire cutscenes -- the Lady knighting Geralt comes to mind -- and then there are favorite MOMENTS within cutscenes. For example, most of the cutscene where Geralt drops from the jail into the sewers is straightforward. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's just a simple transition from one place to another, nothing especially interesting. But the part where he stabs the drowner with a flourish -- not even slowing down his walk to do it -- is just priceless.

Nooo, no multivotes? how can I express my fanboysm? LOL :P

Still my fave is the Beast striding out the flames. I was  when staring at the beast and Geralt's legs do a V upon it. Do you remember Cory? You took a screen of it and put in your calendar. I totally adore that image!

Another of my fave is when Dagon and its crew emerge from water, and the camera runs on the surface of the lake, with those shadows of vodyanoi swimming beneath.... creepy :)
And of course, with Geralt and Dandelion on the boat and the dog howling from the bank. Mwahah... romantic :)

There is another one, actually. I even featured it in one of my Weetchers comic pages: when Geralt jumps down the sewers of Vizima, a nearby drowner freezes and stares at him; Geralt swings his sword and kills him with nochalance.... EPIC!

See? too many! need multivote

PS and oh! how could I forget the scene when the Kikimore buggy Queen kills Professor?

1. Geralt chewing out the villagers for planning to lynch Abigail

2. The Lady of the Lake knights Geralt

These are my favorites. Also, I love the small cutscene at the beginning of Act 4, when the villagers of Murky Waters are watching the ancient, underwater Vodyanoy city appearing in the lake just as Geralt teleports to the shore.

And the Resolute Girl is totally unsurprised to find an armed, white-haired man teleporting in out of nowhere, and puts a finger to her lips to shush him, so he doesn't interfere with their watching the city.

Getting my new GPU tomorrow. Looking forward to playing the game again, hopefully finally without any performance issues. And with the high resolution texture mod ^^

Well, she knows everything, just ask her. Does the Polish word translated "resolute" have any connotation of "clever"?

Not bad in the sense that no one expected Yaevin to do it. It's understandable that they would kill each other if they get the chance. It's just that she doesn't seem like a bad person and I'm sad to see her die. I wish it would have been possible to save her on a neutral play-through. I just finished reading the fan translation of Times of Contempt and she's in it:

So far I've only played TW1 for the Scoia'tael (I picked them first and then regretted my decision later on as I saw how hate-filled and fanatical they were) and then I played again on the neutral path (which definitely seems like the best path to me overall).

So maybe I should side with the Order the next time that I play the game. I don't like the Order overall, but as far as TW2 is concerned it doesn't make that big of a difference which path I take, and I do like Siegfried and Rayla, so maybe I'll end up considering the Order my official play-through so that Siegfried and Rayla are alive going forward.

Now that I think about it, Ves kind of reminds me of Rayla. Maybe my view will change once I finish reading the books and fully get to know Rayla, but right now I think Ves's character was probably influenced by Rayla because I see a lot of similarities. Rayla can die in TW1 so obviously she couldn't be a main central character in TW2 for players who hadn't saved her. Therefore if they wanted someone like Rayla in the TW2, a new character would be needed who could be in the game for all players regardless of their TW1 decisions.

Edit: Wait, I just checked the Wiki and it sounds like Rayla dies even on the Order path? So there's no way to save her? :(

That's a hard one. My two personal favourites are "Saving Abigail" (loved that short "speech" by Geralt), and killing the GM and him stating "That that sword is for monsters" (Firstly, it's badass. Secondly, it fits well with Geralt and him (you) deciding who/what is a monster, and thirdly about knowing it is Alvin later on).

I agree, but not sure TW1 handled it the best way. And with this I mean it leading to you killing people on both factions, for the most part. Well a neutral path is much harder path to make in games, and perhaps I'm being nitpicky, but that was what I felt.

Sadly, no.

The Polish for "resolute" is "rezolutny" :) so it's almost a 1:1 correspondence.

My favorite cutscenes:
1. The Lady of the Lake knights Geralt.
2. Geralt chewing out the villagers for planning to lynch Abigail.

And I totally disagree with the statement that TW2 cutscenes are b... Ah, OK, we are supposed not to compare the two games

I think Leo's death cutscene is pretty well done in terms of camera-work, somebody knew how to use lenses etc. Though the cutscene as a whole is not perfect, but it's got a few great moments, like Geralt throwing his sword at Professor.

I chose "Leo's funeral" ... although "The Lady knighting Geralt" is also very nice.

This one is really hard. Geralt's knighting is just so magical and I remember I was really impressed when I saw the werewolf cutscene for the first time.

But I think I will go with the scene where Geralt and Dandelion leave Murky Waters in the Fisher King's boat. It reminds me of making that pivotal decision of who or who not to help and that you can't go back, a feeling which The Witcher games manage to invoke in me. Plus, the music always gives me chills. First it's very peaceful and beautiful and then it gets really menacing.

BTW, the flashback-like scene of the striga which you get to see when you reach the swamp cemetery, does that remind anyone else of 'American Werewolf in London'? The homeless guys sitting by the fire, the dog walking off, a monster just out of eyesight... Could be a coincidence of course, but still. ;)
I left my heart to the Wild Hunt a-comin'. I live until the call. And I plan to be forgotten when I'm gone. Yes, I'll be leaving in the fall.

Standing between the lynch mob and Abigail is great because even though it seems like Abigail isn't at fault there is enough to make you wonder.

But the best for me has to be, "That sword is for monsters!" Throughout the game, we're made to question what constitutes a monster. Is it the snarling beast that kills people because that is its nature, or is the person who chooses to to horrible things, even if they think it was right.

Yeah, I think she was guilty of everything the mob accused her of, but they committed the actual crimes so they were even more guilty. That's why I saved her, but picked the dialogue option saying it was the lesser evil.

"I'll kill everything that can't climb a tree..." <--- most badass line in the game.

They are all awesome ;)
When Geralt confronts the angry mob with Abigail is pretty awesome. And all the flashbacks of your decisions are so good. The pictures are stunning.

Those are nice, aren't they? I'm amazed at just how many wonderful moments they managed to cram into TW1.

Besides the knighting and killing the grandmaster cutscenes, I love the long cutscene at the end of chapter 3/start of chapter 4. Where Geralt asks for a last kiss from the princess before he is to be executed and Triss transports him away and he is dropped on the shore of a very magical lake scene.

Yes! When Geralt asked for a kiss, I thought he was going to grab Adda, pull her in front of him, and tell everybody to put their bows down or he'd kill the princess. I was astonished when Triss teleported him away. And if that wasn't enough surprises for one cutscene, then we get the underwater city becoming visible in the moonlight. Just wonderful.
