I read Alexandros Papadiamantis' "The Murderess".a book which was written at 1903 and still astonishes. I loved it! It's one of the books i 'll never forget. I wanted to read it since school, but i just wasn't ready for it, i wasn't mature. This masterpiece deserved all the waiting.

From wikipedia:
An example of Papadiamantis' deep and even-handed feeling for humanity is his acknowledged masterpiece, the novella "The Murderess." It is the story of an old woman in Skiathos, who pities families with many daughters: given their low socioeconomic status, girls could not work before marriage and they could not marry unless they provide a dowry; therefore, they were a burden and a plight to their families. After killing her own newborn granddaughter, gravelly ill with pertussis, she crosses the line from pity to what she believes is useful and appropriate action, the "mercy killing" of young girls. She kills three young girls in succession by throwing them into wells and then pretending to be trying to save them in order to justify her presence there.

Now i 'll continue Reymon't Feist's "Magician", a more open-hearted book. I really want to see why Pug can't use his powers. :sorcerer:

Reading a book called "The Ten Thousand" by a Mr Paul Kearney, it's a fantasised version of the mercenary greek army (under Xenophon?) that was stranded in Persia during some internal struggle and had to fight its way back to their homeland. I was put off by the description at first, but it's a really good read so far.
I was once asked by a journalist what my thoughts were on the modern world slipping into ignorance and apathy, I told him, "I don't know and I don't fucking care!"

Currently reading "Die Deutsche Hanse, eine heimliche Supermacht". The history of the Hanseatic League, some of the parallels to the economic turmoil of today in the EU are quite interesting.

Im currently reading the elderling saga.

Just finished the assasin trilogy and im starting the live ship trilogy now.

Holy shit are these books amazing! best low fantasy novels i've ever read since The Witcher, totally superior in my honest opinion to A song of Ice and fire novels.

I' m going to sound sexist and i apologize, but i though that only a woman could have put so much emotion and melodrama into a novel.
Like in this scenes:

Now that might sound like an insult or criticism, but i mean that in the best possible way. The only real criticism i have is that i though that the antagonist were too one dimensionally evil.

In all honestly if you Liked the witcher novels you should definitely try these novels.
Shit happens...

The Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is really great. You'll defiantly enjoy it--and learn about bad ass math theory!

I gave up on the English Translations. Nice to see Hungry is going at a much faster rate. Isn't it 3 books in 2 years or so?

currently i'm with the fourth book of "A song of ice and fire", third time i read the series, after like 15 years reading fantasy, a little fres air in the genre, the negative thing is, i can't help thinking it is too much inspired in Tad Williams's "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn", (Añoranzas y pesares, in spanish, funny the names are totally uncorrelated)

I'm reading the Harry Potter series, reached the 5fth book.

You know, despite the things that annoy me (author bias vs Slytherin), it's overall an excellent series for what it aims to achieve. Still debating who's my favorite character, Dumbledore or Hermione.

What a series. Every summer I hop on a broom to start the adventure over again. O I envy you :ice:

"Evil" Slytherin gets under the nails, but, what's more frustrating is the bull my fellow Hufflepuffs put up with!

Well, no. The Last Wish published in 2011, The Sword of Destiny published last year, and now the Blood of Elves is here. But we don't know that the publisher continues the series. When they started they siad that they bought only the first three books's license. So I hope that they will continueing this.

I wonder what Mr Sapkowski thinks about video game artworks being used as cover for his books.
