About as fed up as I can be. Between the silly movie showing the Kayran getting angry and the disorientation one experiences after wacking off a limb, I am getting too beat up to be able to finish. The developers could have waited until the last limb was severed to show the ramp being made and they could have just let us wack off the limb without the movie.
I wouldn't be so angry about it if the blasted yrden worked. I have to cast it a half dozen times to trap a limb and I am so busy running around attempting to stay alive waiting for the yrden to work that it is hard to get the quen spell ready.
I only have one question. Can we bypass the Kayran quest somehow? Right now I am thinking that you have to finish it in order to catch a boat out of Flotsum. If that is the case, I am probably at the end of the line with this game.
As you might guess, I am frustrated at a game I have really been enjoying until now.
ssssssssssssssss

This is not a hard quest. Don't blame the game.
Lay down a quen and yrden, move out of the way, start hacking at the limb and repeat. I don't even know why you think it's disorientating. ›››

Chances are it`s the 1st play and there are different levels of gamers . My first play i must`ve died 50 times or more just on the Kayran so i know what he`s feeling . If motion blur is enabled you can get disoriented pretty quickly not to mention sick after awhile .

First off, be sure you have disabled difficult QTE's in the main menu. Next, be sure you have the Ostmurk potion. Finally, to battle the Kayren, just take note of the tentacles. He always telegraphs his blows; you can see them coming and then dodge out of the way. Then you plant yyrden in the spot he will slam again.
He's actually one of the easiest bosses in the game.

As the flames licked the wood I looked into her bright eyes, yet I could see no fear in them, only peace.

The kyran can not be by passed. You have to beat it to trigger important events of the story.
Once you has learn how to beat it, it's an easy boss. It's an old school boss, you have to learn it's attack sequence, find the better spots to wait its rage attack ends, and hit when and where you gonna hurt it.
Preparation is also important. Don't rush into this battle. Let Sile wait.
If you don't drink mongoose potion before the fight, you gonna stuck in the kyran's poisonous mucus
.
If you manage to build the kyran trap, you gonna get signs at he precise spot where you have to lay yerden.
If you already have 3 bars of energy instead 2, you should include Quen in your strategy. If you don't use Quen, you should consider drink swallow potion.
You can do some internet research if you still are lost.
There are a lot post about the kyran at this forum and at gog's forums.
TW2 game guide at gamepressure is very good. You can check out the Kyran quest there.
You also can check out the videos about "the kyran battle" in youtube. It's a huge spoilier and, in my opinion, a last resource.
And, finally, you can upload a save game before the fight and post the link here, some one will help you.

As frustrated as I was the first couple times trying to kill the beast, I still came back here to the forum to find out some more information - without reading spoilers. After about 5 attempts I figured out which way I need to run and what the plan was. At about ten attempts I had it down and was successful in lopping off three tentacles and then had enough time to figure out what to do next. On about the 13th try I beat the darn thing. Yes it's a challenge, but that's why I bought the game, for the challenge of playing through it.
You can do it, stay focused, and, be the sword!

Don't really need to bypass it, I would advise not to in first place. Granted takes time and effort getting the hang of how to get timing and such right but that is half the fun in the game not being hand held level of easy. Took me about 3-4 tries to get the hang of that fight first play through but that was mainly for the QT timings.
