Geralt has amnesia because he suffers from child abuse, and his brain developed the condition as a way of coping with his traumatic past. Geralt awakens at karmoren, a place he loathes, and is forced to fight alongside his abusive/ abused siblings in the chaotic environment that is their home. Geralt’s younger brother is killed and he copes with the domestic violence with sex with Triss. Sexual gratification is probably a common thing the orphans do to one another to escape or deal with the common domestic violence. Geralt’s hair is white because he was sexually abused as a child, this signifies shock. The witcher’s talk about being genetically altered, this is a metaphor for child abuse. The witcher’s leave karmoren in the search of their stolen mutagens, this is a metaphor for adults leaving an abusive household.

The witcher enters the city state of Vizima, many people recognize him but he does not remember them because he has no social skills. The trauma he suffered as a child rends him incapable of normal human interaction. Because of Geralt’s psychopathy he is shunned by the general public. The very fact that the public blames Geralt for his disorder is an indirect admission that they are the cause of his abuse. Geralt can only survive by committing acts of violence because he lacks the character for socially complex activity. He commits these acts of murder against other freaks such as himself, how many times throughout history have sociopathic men from differing countries join the army to slaughter one another?

Geralt finally runs across Berangar. Berangar expresses his frustrations about his life and childhood. He was angry with the cards fate dealt him, and the fact that he could never live a normal life. Berangar is in fact Geralt’s alter ego, and expresses Geralt’s sub- consciousness. In effect, it was Geralt himself who betrayed the witcher’s and led the salamandra to attack Karmoren. Geralt’s most emphasized foe is Azar Jarved. Azar represents Geralt’s father, a strange man who creates other mutant freaks just like Geralt. Geralt is angry that he wasn’t good enough to be Azar’s favored son. Azar at one point even disguises himself as one of Geralt’s comrades. Geralt didn’t know this initially because he didn’t know who his father was.

Geralt runs across Alvin and is reminded of himself as a child. Geralt sees something special in Alvin and takes him under his wing so that he can raise him with the love that he, Geralt, never had. Many times Alvin asks Geralt to teach him the ways of the Witcher, but Geralt emphatically denies him stating: there can be no more Witcher for there are no more Witcher schools. Geralt knows that this is a lie because the salamandra are on the verge of creating their own witchers. Geralt wishes a world of peace that can never be, because he does not know how to live peacefully. Geralt even hoped to get married and adopt Alvin, but the world of brutality denied him of that. Thus Geralt ends up abusing Alvin the same way he had been, this is signified by Geralt giving him a pendant.

The strigga was a teenage girl that Geralt had sexual relations with. Geralt was a pedophile because he wasn’t mature enough to deal with adult relationships I.E, his love triangle and orgies with Triss, dandy lion, and Shani. Latter, Geralt confronts the grand master who is in fact Alvin as an adult. Adult Alvin demonstrates his generosity by feeding the homeless, and claims he needed the mutagens to protect humanity from an oncoming crisis. Geralt only believes in violence to further one’s aims so he doesn’t believe Alvin’s claim. The grandmaster, Alvin, takes Geralt to the future ice wastes to prove he isn’t lying. Here, Geralt becomes jealous with Alvin because he turned into a noble adult. Thus, Geralt kills Alvin out of rage, and to hide the fact that he abused him as a child.
The king of the wild hunt makes himself known to Geralt. The king states, that he was the one who revived Geralt, so that Geralt could go on killing people; thus, proving the hunt with fresh souls. The King symbolizes Geralt’s psychopathic urges to kill and validates the king’s thesis by engaging him in violence.
