I can fully appreciate why people refuse to play passed this point. Especially in a RPG where the real fun of the game is contained in the statistical manipulation of character development to resolve combat issues. All that careful customising comes to a screeching senseless halt for the sake of a single scene that acts as a road block to the player's narrative progression for the sake of a Quick Time Event that is really counter to the rest of the gameplay. Gah. If I want QTE's I'll go train on a typing tutor; or go I'll go play 'Jurassic Park - The Game' - and look how that turned out. QTE stuff = Fail.
All the same, after a couple evenings of miserable attempts, I vanquished the beast.
Thankfully, you can turn off the 'Difficult QTE's in the Main Menu > Options. This will make the fight a LOT easier. Especially if you've taken the time to figure out how to lop off each tentacle without walkthroughs and help hints. You don't need the nonsensical prolonged QTE rubbish as well once you've achieved that task - especially considering how difficult this boss is so early in the game. As far as I am concerned, that's the best way to do it.
On a related note:
What..? Sharing save game files across the internet so that someone else can beat it for you? No. That's not a sign of your inability to play the game. It is an indication that the game itself has a problem.
Stupid game design is stupid.

There's nothing wrong with the design of the game. The boss fights are supposed to be difficult, and if you find it too difficult and aren't interested in putting in the effort to get past it, just lower the difficulty.
All you need to do is observe the Kayran's movements and figure out when you've got time to put the Yrden down and when you should just roll and wait, and also where to hide while it's having one of its tentacle slamming fits after you've cut one of its tentacles off.
There's just some people who aren't interested in a difficult boss fight and just want to cruise through the game, which is absolutely fine, and in that case you should turn "Difficult QTE's" off, and play on easy.
I'm on Dark Mode and I find the Kayran too easy, I've not played in a while but it took me about eight attempts to refresh my memory about how to beat it, and I did so without Quen as well. Before the EE the Kayran would throw boulders at you at a much faster interval than it does now, which makes that part too easy in my opinion.

I just can't comprehend why the developer would even think that QTE content is even appropriate for this game? QTE's have no bearing on the native RPG game mechanics at all and in this instance people are finding them to be such a road block to progress, they do little more than infuriate.
Build your character, drink potions, cast signs... Customise your choices to deal with the situation? Pah... forget about it. It's all for naught coz QTE's are what you will need get you passed that situation.
Where's my potion for enhanced QTE? ...or a Sign that increases the duration of the QTE onscreen? ...or a character trait that improves QTE ability? No. None of the establishe RP elements are catered for. QTE's are at complete odds with the rest of the gameplay and not at all necessary, anyway.
So yes. I do have them switched off now; and the game IS a great deal better for it.
Anyway, all said and done, I got passed the monster. The rest of the game is an absolute joy to play.

Cast Quen, if you don't already have Quen working.
Switch to Yrden as you jink to the trapping point.
Cast Yrden and immediately switch back to Quen.
Once you have trapped three of the tentacles, you don't need Yrden anymore. (If you made the trap, it will take out one tentacle, and you will only need Yrden twice.)

If it's not either of these, try exiting the game and reloading.

I feel the same way, except there are no cheats for the xbox. If I wanted ti die, die and die again I could go back to Dark Souls.

Are you using my Dark Mode Effects mod?
If not, you're using a Dark Mode sword without the rest of the dark mode equipment, which means you're taking permanent damage through the fight. You may find it easier if you switch to a different sword and try again. (I've just spent 10 minutes on your file and can't win. I'm going to try again with the mod in place, but right now it's an extremely challenging setup)

OK. Here you go.

Don't forget to loot, level up and collect your reward.
I also turned off difficult QTE. I'm not sure if that's carried through in a save, so you may need to check. And if you're not using my effects mod, I suggest you change your silver sword as soon as possible.
