I too am having trouble with this stupid beast. I am already on easy level and tried all the hints here. It's a good game so far but a bit frustrating for me because I keep getting lost in town any other places. Map isn't much help. Don't know how many times I've lost to this beast but tnere should be a way around it. Us seniors don't have good reflexes any more. I loved Witcher 1.

The full mod hasn't been updated for game version 2.0 yet, but the option to just install the North Pointer works fine in 2.0, and makes a lot of difference.

Heh, I finally beat him but I don't know how. I just kept hitting buttons. But knowing the sign thing and climbing the ruins to finish him off did help a lot. Thanks

you need to "jump" on one of the tentacles and then hit the mouse button it shows it on the screen.

after that you fall off and land on the ground then there is sort of a cut scene that rubble falls down and make your way to the rubble and be careful climbing on top of that rubble because it will try to kill ya.

On very top of that it ends up on the cut scene where Geralt throws a bomb and that is it the Kayran will be dead.

"after that you fall off and land ont the ground...", man, i´m dying in this task just because Geralt dont fall of that damn tentacle, instead, he is lauched againt that wall bridge. I cant find what to do to get him off tentacle after that hide...

Sometimes the QTE is difficult to see but if difficult QTE is enabled for me it was the KB spacebar to get off the tentacle .

Are you using hotkeys to select the spell? It's a lot more reliable if you use the radial menu, and then use Q to cast it.

Alternatively, if you have somewhere to upload your savegame, someone would probably be happy to help out to get you past this point - it would be a shame to miss the rest of the game just because of this fight, and you wouldn't be the first to get past it this way (and many of them are juniors )

I kind of feel the same way... This type of 'impossible battle' (without cheating or switching to easy mode, that is) is a prime example of poor game design and an apparent lack of respect for players.

It also doesn't make sense in the overall progression of the story. Geralt isn't a very strong fighter anymore (even if you started from a TW1 savegame) who can barely fight off the few Scoiatael Malena sends after him (yeah, on second thought I chose to betray her so I could prevent her from setting me up ;-> , but he is somehow expected to be able to defeat this Kayren (or should I say Kraken, which is obviously the type of mythical monster that's portrayed here)? Compared to this, the Beast back in TW1 wasn't that hard, in retrospect.

And yes, if you try this mission 50+ times then you might get the hang of the Kraken and kill it. But how realistic is it that Geralt would gather that much information on his first try? (Remember: the game world is being advertised as being 'realistic', so it's fair to judge it if it's not).

Hello there guys, i'm sorry to post in this thread (although the last answer is only twenty days old) but i would like to ask your help. I'm in my second playthrough on dark mode, and i'm facing the Keyran. I can kill him, the fight is not the problem, but the QTE didn't want to work (surely because of my shitty computer). It worked in my first playtrough (surely a miracle), but now i just can't pass it. I tried everything, lowest resolution, fullscreen or not, lowest settings, removed all the mods, i'm of course in 2.1, I have tried for hours but, difficult QTE or not, even when the gauge is full Geralt still falls from the tentacle and nothing happens *even if it's the fourth tentacle* And i still have the auto save after Keyran of my first playthrough, but my built was different so i'd prefer not taking it. I post here to ask the help of someone: could you please fight this good ol' Keyran for me? I know it's christmas and everything, so I can wait a few days, but I would be extremely grateful! Here is my save (it's on Megaupload, i don't know why but Mediafire bugged), juste before the cinematic, I drank a Swallow, an attack buffer (Freux in french) and the Mangoost potion and I have the complete dark set:

If you look in Documents>witcher 2>gamesaves that would be where all gamesaves are located with pics included so as to be able to help locate them more easily i think . Generally the one you`re looking for is at the top . Just copy and paste then upload it to whichever site you use and post a link here .
