I am inside a chapter one quest where I dunno where to go, after Geralt walked for thounsands miles I still have no clue what to do in order to have further infos about this quest.

What kind of statement is that : Learn more about it ???? Where ?? Who ? ?? ( She-Troll )

I can't tolerate to waste thousands of hours walking here and there to go nowhere just because of this " really helpful " quest statement......

I really miss a lot TW1....

See, there is this thing called a journal. Use it. This quest is actually pretty easy.

what quest it exactly is?

Sometimes you must collect information by killing the species or reading books about it - then you learn how to eliminate them properly.

If it's a main quest you may have to do other things at first, can't help if I don't know the quest first.

Visit the houses in Lobinden. I hear there's a craftsman there...

He is on the Troll Trouble quest (OP mentions she troll).

Which quest?
If you are talking about the contracts, you can do three things:

-read the books that you can find at Einar Gausel. After buying them, check your character panel under "monster lore" and then you'll learn more detail about how to kill a creature.
The journal quest will update automatically

-kill a few monsters (endregas or nekkers). Then GEralt will learn the basics by himself. The journal will update automatically.

-read Witcher wiki http://witcher.wikia...i/Troll_Trouble

Killing monsters can be an alternatve to books. You will get messages on your screen that say something like, <monster knowldge> 1/3, then 2/3, then 3/3

I think in his case, books/killing stuff won't help. The OP is asking about troll trouble, where you have to look for the she troll's head. Personally i thought the game gave a disappointingly small amount of information for that, it wasn't obviously enough what you needed to do

Disagree. The journal said to talk to the townsfolk. So, I did. Found what I needed in about three or four conversation attempts with various townsfolk.

To be honest before complaining I re-read all the quests details into the journal, above all 3 times the one of the troll but , as evidence, I miss that suggestion. I will read it again.

Anyway, of course, I talked with dozens of townsfolk, also the ones with no dialog enabled and I learnt nothing, also the journal didn't give me any update after speaking with many of them.

It reminds me the nekker nest quest, " burn all the nests " ..... two issues IMO, first, it was not said you need a grapeshot bomb, I only had samun and it did nothing. I had to understand which very specific weapon to use reading in internet...that's cheap indeed IMO.

Second, I had to spot 4 nests all by myself walking minutes here and there...a waste of time...the quest should tell at least which zone they are located.

my 2 cents.

Anyway thanks for the help guys

OP is proof that it's not enough.

Also if the game provides quest markers for most things, it conditions people to expect them.

The troll quest had several instances where you had to search for stuff (other example would be the she troll head) where it wasn't entirely obvious. And not everyone wants to or can search up info on the internet.

Yes, you are immensely right.

There should be an option to toggle on or off the quest pointer. If a man likes to spend dozens of hours searching this and that no problem, but it should be an option.

Then, I want to avoid cheating at all costs, so I would prefer do the stuff by myself but f.i. to defeat the kyran I will need a cheat for sure. Which man can kill her with no cheat ??

You have to imagine the tactic and a human mind can't do that at least within a whole months of tries.

I found the information about grapeshot bombs in either books about nekkers or when I went to kill a few dozens of them to learn more about them. After you do that - go and read the journal carefully, I think you find that info there. It's not cheap. It's the Witcher.

How about an Awesome Button™ too? If you watch the Flotsam forest carefully, you notice that each type of monster has its own "favourite" area, where it dwells. I'm sorry that the game doesn't hold your hand, but it's not that difficult to figure it all out, is it?

You might have a point, somehow, but how about the Kyran ?

Then, TW2 seems a good game ( not like the gorgeous TW1 but a fine game ) but considering all the amount of spells, monsters etc... I think that no one read everything looted for all the game duration, and IMO it seems to much to me missing a single info and missing a quest due to this fact.

I didn't know what bomb i needed to destroy the nest but when you go to meditate position, click skills tab and there on the right-bottom corner is attributes tab. Click it and there's all kinds of information, especially about monsters (lots more than in the journal). from there i found out that i had to use grapeshot bomb. also you can find info about kayran if you have bought and read the book about it. (not actually read, just opening it in your inventory is enough)

and yes it took some time to find the nest, but hey, its not a big forest and all the nest are pretty close to Flotsam.

Uhh, I hope in future witcher games we still have to think of tactics and all... not just go mindlessly smashing the monster up like in so many games..

maybe Kayran is hard if you don't know much about it.. but it's easy to imagine the tactic "not to get smashed under tentacles". Plus the witch gives you hints about yrden...

You can read in the journal about needing grapeshot bombs for nekker nest. As far as finding them, well, that just takes some exploration and you can see where they hang out, as the vegetation is dead, etc.

See, these are the kind of posts that get me anxious about TW3 getting dumbed down, now that it is going to get released on consoles.

It's going to get A LOT more of these kind of comments when it gets released on Lame-Box and we all have seen what is the usual road developers choose to take after that happens. DUMBING DOWN, hand holding, objective markers, auto-aim, aim-assist, mindless quests, EASY quests, no mystery, everything obvious, hints that even a 8-year old would understand and so on.

It has happened already to many great PC franchises and that is exactly the reason why I didn't like at all the news that TW2 is coming to consoles. Many said that it will be good for CDPR to get even more money from TW2 and I agree BUT exposure to the console crowd also means that they start whining about NOT having the usual console game hand-holding that they are used to. If CDPR starts to listen to those cries for OMGhelp, then I fully expect TW3 to be a God of War style game, as in stupid button-masher with no real story riddled with WOW! moments to cover its stupidity.

It would be funny and infuriating at the same time to go to the forums after the Lame-Box release to see just how many posts would be like "I don't get this" "i couldn't find that" "where is the objective marker" "why do I have to do that by myself?" and so on.

PLEASE CDPR do NOT make TW3 stupid. Pretty please?

@OP:
Please do yourself a favor and READ the Journal. Also meditate and press the CHARACTER option. There on the top right corner you will see 3 buttons. They contain useful information about many things including everything that you asked for.

Moreover, since you like TW1 so much I'm baffled to see that you did not mention reading any books to learn stuff about the monsters that you are about to face. This is a favorite part of TW games for me. Learning and preparing. Did you bought any books on Nekkers to find out about their nests?

Sorry if I sound a bit harsh but the game provides info on many things that a player which actually bothers to read about will understand exactly what he has to do. As a TW1 fan you should have read the Journal and monster info more closely.

I expect NOT reading the Journal from console gamers not PC gamers. Mark my words, after TW2 gets released on X-Box be prepared to laugh to all the comments about not being able to fing things, not undertanding about how to kill Nekker nests and generally NOT reading the Journal because "durr durr I want to hack and slash and then hack and slash some more" Who cares about the Journal?"
Not all console gamers are like that but a good un-healthy percentage of them are exactly like that.
Do you hear the voices too ?!?
