I figured that with the already successful popularity of the witcher novels, 2 games (collection editions), then the talk of witcher medallions, paper crafts and figures, it makes you wonder is there going to be a franchise of some sort? No doubt this subject has crossed the minds of the developers many times, but its also important on our part to show support if we want something out there or not, and it should be available WORLD WIDE. This way the developers have a better idea of what is in demand, not to mention they can make a bit more money for themselves on the side lines, while many fans will be certainly be thrilled to own a piece of the imagination. A win win situation hey?

So here is my poll on POTENTIAL witcher merchandise. I've already given things a head start. Feel free to add any suggestions and likewise disagreements, This ones for all of us!

*Re-issue the wolf key chain- anyone else notice how amazing the detail was on that

*Re-issue silver sword letter opener- handy

*Re-issue a Geralt figure, something more along the concept of McFarlane or Necca figures.

*Translate the rest of the polish novels, there was only 2 done, there's plenty room for more.

*More medallions- We know there was a Griffin and Cat school, and now a Viper school, or save them for the next
Witcher game (collectors edition)

*An (old style leather bound book)illustrated encyclopedia of monsters A-Z

*Board game. Something like age of conan, where players are generic witchers leading moving around a map Geralt
could be in it but as an NPC along with deck of cards for random incidents etc.

*Wooden decorated dice boxes- we have dice so why not the boxes?

*Comic adaptations- This could be a big one. This idea comes from the same idea that was done for the Forgotten
Realms legend of Drizzt adaptations. Of course that would mean that the original novels would have to be
translated, But its a case of one thing at a time. Then again they can be completely different stories altogether.
A suggested artist should be Jakub Rebelka (witcher 2 flash back art), this will have an even stronger link with
the current art. Although any artist will do, there are plenty of real good ones out there, all over the world.

*Paper crafts- Don't know who started this idea but its certainly very catchy. Suggested crafts - Geralt(obviously),
Dandelion, Triss, Roche, Zoltan, Iorveth, Letho, Nekker, Rotfiend, Draug, Wraith, Drowner, Armored soldier, Dragon.

Yes I'm aware. But I'm hoping that by putting up this thread, people can keep petitioning to get these things in production, all we have to do as fans is let them know how badly we want these goods. Once CDPR get a good look at the (hopefully) high demand for these goods then they'll most likely get them on market soon enough.

They know what we fans what and CDPR are a bunch of great folks so far for what they have done. These online petitions are pretty much pointless as in 99% cases they don't work and mostly not even seen. Just hope they open a merch store soon, he said 'no plans for now' not 'no plans at all'

I think petitions that involve spending money work slightly differently. I may be a bit of a cynic, but last time I checked every company's bottom line was about profit.

To me, no plans to sell fan merchandise just means at the moment it doesn't seem to be profitable or worth their trouble. If they really believed they'd make a significant amount of money doing it, I see no reason why they wouldn't change their mind.

That being said, what would it take to convince them they may make money from merchandise? Possibly it'd require more than just forum posts from the small group of players who are obvious TW's most adamant fans.

Strage that not all novels were translated into English. In Germany we got the last one this year one month before Witcher 2 release.

I would immediately buy a "Witcher Dice Poker" board game if this will be released someday. It would be nice, if CDP could release it with a couple of different boards.

Something weird came to my mind...Wine labels.. so you can decorate your wine bottles with The Witcher theme. Collection of witchery wine bottles would look neat. Or maybe some real witcher wine with witcher label?

I would buy.. and I don't even consume alcohol! (moreover I would get some witcher wine for a present to anybody I know... if it doesn't taste too bad)

This, the books are a really important part of the game and you have to read them to at least understand everything. As for merchandising, medallions are a great idea I would buy that.

Not a bad suggestion. Too bad I'm not sure how. Other than expressing my opinion on these posts I really don't know much about them to be honest.

The other thing is that although yes and no's do help, I also want people to express their own ideas and opinions on this. I expect many people will disagree with both my methods and which items should be available. But likewise those people may give more appealing suggestions on the subject. From my position and pretty much anyone else's all we have to do is keep adding the wants and constantly keep convincing CDPR that we are behind this 100%. The more convincing we are the more likely these things will happen.

And for those who say it won't work, or our numbers are too low or whatever doubts they have, then bare in mind I don't think positive/negative, thats not my style of judgment. I am a realist, and from facts in life, many great things start off from a simple idea, its only how you express that idea and how much effort you put in making that idea into reality, in other words every little step gets you there closer. A few days ago this was just an empty thread with only a few suggestions on an idea. 2 days later its already a page, imagine what it will be like in a week, and then a months time. Hell yeah these things take their time, but nobody is aiming for the sky.

I hope my point is made more clear now. To everyone

The issue maybe licensing related. CDPR may have the rights to make games on the Witcher Property, but Andrzej Sapkowski (or his designees) may hold all Witcher related merchandising rights. Consequently, CDPR can only give away for free things like the medallion, the t-shirts, etc. The exception to this may be the contents of the collector's edition which may be covered under a special agreement.

Otherwise merchandising is a no-brainer for every franchise and I don't see why they wouldn't do it in the US, and certainly also in Poland.

Triss, i'd buy that for a dollar.
I was once asked by a journalist what my thoughts were on the modern world slipping into ignorance and apathy, I told him, "I don't know and I don't fucking care!"

Some already have, for nothing that is, the way I understand it is that those papercrafts were randomised, wait a sec it is the papercrafts we're talking about is it? Or are we getting into actionfigures, busts, barbiedolls, blowup dolls?

I'd buy a witcher medallion key chain. For the right price.
