How to open locked chest in Loredo's residence?

05.08.2011 @ 17:17 #1

Has anyone managed to open the locked chest on the second or third floor of Loredo's residence, in the room with the sleeping guards?

Is this anything to do with the key you get from the house of the guy who works with him? Behind the gallows? I can't remember now, but I do remember finding some key in there that was meant to open something in Loredo's mansion.

Louis Merse. He's the guy who you need to see for the reward for the contract quests.

The dialogue to get the key from him may only appear if you've received one other specific quest (I'm not sure about this, but the box relates to the quest, and I vaguely recall not seeing the dialogue when I visited him once too soon).

Quest name below:

This is ACT I not ACT II your in the wrong forum topic.==> move this topic to ACT I.

Loredo has the key...but take note:

If you won the 'fight club' you can't get into the mansion to access the postbox.
If Loredo ask you to lose the last fight and you choose to lose on purpose, then you can get access into the mansion.
Once getting access to the postbox while still doing the Mystic River mission you can post a letter but need a key from Loredo...which you can get at the end of Act I.

I don't think he's asking about the postbox, unless i'm mistaken he means a locked chest on the next floor up at the side of a sleeping guard when you do the assassinate Loredo mission. Could never get that one open myself.
I have waited many years for the Incline to begin. False prophets I have followed and obscure lore perused, but always there has been nought but the bitter taste of disappointment at the end of my travails. Still I do not give up, I do not falter with weariness. Even if it should never come to pass I will still believe and search, for the Incline is beautiful and it SHOULD exist.

Yeah there's the chest and the postbox but both still need Loredo's key.

With postboxes and chests you still need the key from the person that owns it.
It's the same with Louis Merse you needed the key to access both the postbox and the chest next to the table that has the postbox on it.

I also never got it since I chose a different path.
Next time when I do Roche's or even Iorveth's path again I will try this.

He is referring to the chest at the foot of the sencond bed to the left side of the room with sleeping guards just the floor before the one with Ves shackled to the wall.

Anyway, I personally didn't find the key.

And, as said before it's chapter 1.

I've been curious about this chest, too (the one by the foot of the bed in the guards' quarters). Anyone able to find a key to open it?

I searched high and low for that key a couple of days ago, because of this thread. No sign of it.

More importantly what's inside that chest?

Loredo has a key; some say Louis Merse's key will also open Loredo's postbox, but I've never tried.

Are you sure you're talking about the same chest (yeah, we all got confused too). This one's in the guard's room on the 2nd floor, not the one in Loredo's room.
