When I put my CD key in, I get a screen that says verifying patching, but after it downloads, it says verifying_patcher_Atari then goes back to downloading and has been doing this for around five minutes and is still doing this. Is this normal?

Download the the patches by your self and then install them by your self, I had the same problems for some time ago.
