So i just downloaded Witcher 2 via Steam and configured the graphics setting to all high pretty much, and when i start the game the menu backround is normal and good but as soon as i started a new game the graphics were all colour-fogged, all i can really see is the silhouette of some characters and their eyes, the opening cinematic is fogged blue and the prison scene is fogged orange. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. My graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 6900 series and my approx. memory is 3826 MB. Is anyone able to help?

Graphical problem

You have to go into Catalyst Control Center and set antialiasing to "use application settings."
I'm not here anymore, but there are still three ways to find me. First, you can go into a room with all the lights off and say my number three times while looking into a mirror. A bit macabre, admittedly. The second way would be to post a craigslist ad for anonymous sex, but don't be writing checks you can't cash, sweet stuff. Ahem. The third and most tasteful method would be to just check out my site where I review stuff because I'm a hyper-judgmental human being.

Ah thank you very much, it's all clear now. Though i have a new problem, in the graphics settings for screen resolution i don't have the option of using 1920 x 1080, the highest all of a sudden is 1024 x 768. I tried clicking "auto-detect best settings" but that's the highest resolution still. Blarg

Never, ever click "auto-detect." Seriously, it's the devil.
You should be able to edit the User.ini file's "viewport" (I think... running off of memory, here) attribute to your screen resolution as a fix.

"Steam/steamappes/thewitcher2/bin/config/user"? If so for that i've opened it and didn't see "viewport" nor anything regarding screen resolution

I don't have the Steam version so I can't say if it's different, but for other versions there are two User.ini files--one in Program Files, and another in "my documents" (or whatever the equivalent is for your OS) -> Witcher 2 -> config -> User.ini. The latter is the one that needs to be changed, though I don't know if it's the same for your version. Maybe someone with the Steam version can chime in.
EDIT: Ah, you got it. Glad to hear it (:

Glad it works for you now but for future reference: The (My) Documents\Witcher 2\config folder is created for all the versions of The Witcher 2 including the Steam version. That's where the user.ini you should edit is located.
After applying any changes that cannot be matched by settings set in the Launcher you should run the game from witcher2.exe so they don't get automatically overwritten though.

So after changing the settings in the .ini, you have to avoid using the launcher altogether or else your settings will be overwritten? Just want to be clear on this so I know whether to mention it next time (:

They will be if there is no such setting in the configurator. Let's say the Launcher only gives you option to pick 1440x900 resolution max but you change it to 1920x1200 in [Viewport]. Then if you start the game from the Launcher it will get overwritten.
If, however, you simply change Fullscreen=1 to Fullscreen=0 which can be reflected by the Launcher then it won't get overwritten. You get my meaning?

I do, indeed. So using the .ini as a fix necessitates bypassing the launcher and running the .exe directly. Very helpful information, thank you.
