-I proved everyone innocent
-I found Raymond's body
-I was contacted by the kid telling me to see Raymond
-I did a bunch of other things first like locate all the other Sephirot
-I do not have any option to give Raymond his 200 f'n gold. I'm presuming this is where he wants to tell me about the autopsy, but the autopsy is unnecessary and, well, I know he's not who he says he is.

I have been here: http://www.thewitche...p?topic=18123.0

I followed Dinoz directions, but that seems to totally clear "Vizima Confidential" from my list. Is that because it's supposed to be completed (and therefore removed from my list), or because I just did something to scrap the unfinished quest altogether? I suppose it shouldn't matter but I don't want to keep playing and then have this bite me on the butt later and find myself going through *this* mess all over again.

HOW has this been an issue for (at least?) three years, and there is no plausible fix outside of editing saves?

Other ideal is if someone else does it for me. I have zero interest in modding saves which means the effort here is a bit unequal to my enthusiasm. Or lack thereof.

It doesn't have a well-known fix (other than the ones in the earlier thread) for two reasons: one, it's rare enough that few players are affected (but the few that do get legitimately upset); and two, the trigger for it is to not do what the other characters in the game told you to do.

It appears that doing some other quest between the time the boy tells you Raymond wants to see you and the time you actually go and see Raymond is what breaks it. I couldn't tell you what quest that is, though.

Short of going back to a save just at the point the boy talks to you, or editing your save as described in the other thread, I don't think there's anything that can be done about it.

All desire to shirk,
Shall during off hours exhibit his powers
To Madame Tussaud's wax-work.

Alternatively you can ask for a save game from someone in this thread http://tw1.thewitche...topic=23708.660

I had to go back to a save before I went to the graveyard/found the body of the real Raymond. This is also before I proved everyone innocent without autopsy. So it does seem to be broken in some way related to the autopsy.

Mind. That's about four, five hours of gameplay earlier than when I first ran into the issue, since I was in the swamp doing a number of quests, acquiring sephirot, etc.

It's definitely every save after finding Raymond's body, which proved everyone innocent without needing to do the autopsy.

I wonder if the quest assumes that I'm not going to be in the graveyard until I have the autopsy quest? So by not seeing fake Raymond and getting the quest for the autopsy I won't stumble on real Raymond and negate the need to do an autopsy?

I would assume so in all my plays i always got in the cemetery after the autopsy except one time and it didn`t end pretty at all . I think i ended up deleting about 15 hrs worth of gameplay before i got back o track . More problems don`t hesitate to ask .

Well, getting back to the original question I asked... I'm guessing that if my reasoning above is correct about the graveyard, then yes, "Vizima Confidential" probably should be missing. As missing in this case hopefully = completed.

He's still wanting his orens anyway. Moot point. -.-

I stand corrected; I lost eight hours of gameplay.

Not knowing what steps you took or when . But it seems that you should have gotten the quest "Anatomy of a Crime"
which is the autopsy quest > If you proved all the suspects innocent before talking to raymond after the messenger tells you that raymond wants to see you . Probably is when the quest becomes bugged . Because Raymond also has suspects he wants you to investigate .

If you don`t want to spend all the time repaying i may have a save game i could send you . But would need to know exactly where you were in Act 2

I appreciate the offer, but having been relatively satisfied that I can avoid the bug through a replay (for the reasons you mentioned), I'm going to suck it up and just replay it.

Edit: I do know where the bug happened: the minute I found Raymond's body without the autopsy quest. All subsequent saves were broken. The quest seems to expect that I won't find the body before taking the quest. There is a logic error in one of those interconnected quest.

Basically, completion of Vizima Confidential seems 100% dependent on having already gotten Anatomy of a Crime... which shouldn't be, as you CAN solve the whole thing without talking to fake Raymond or getting that quest.

I am standing in Vincent's house. I have the quest "Vizimia Confidential", but not "Anatomy of a Crime". I guess that means I will find my game broken? Guess I'd better go back to another save, and it's a good thing I hadn't gone further than I already have. :wallbash:

COMPLETING "Vizima Confidential" before beginning "Anatomy of a Crime" is the problem; just HAVING it is not a problem.

Basically, when the boy comes and tells you to go see Raymond, GO SEE RAYMOND RIGHT THEN, and you should be fine.

Thank you. I stumbled across Raymond by merely entering all open doors I could find in the city...without a little boy telling me to see him. I will have to be careful not to finish that questline.

The boy comes to fetch you after you've already hired Raymond to investigate the Salamandra problem and after certain things happen that I won't spoil for you. You can go ahead and talk to Raymond all you like; the thing you have to be sure NOT to do is to ignore the boy when he (eventually) summons you to come to Raymond's house.

You'll need to go talk to Raymond a couple of time to advance the quest to that point, so please don't shy away from talking to Raymond. And actually, the (relatively rare) bug that people are talking about happens when they don't see Raymond ENOUGH, not because they see him too much.

Go, talk to Raymond. Hire him to investigate Salamandra. And have fun!

Well, now...

He had a little surprise for me, but I think I will have a little surprise for him very soon. Hmmmm... :)
