I'm currently playing through the game again on hard, with the intent to take neither side. However, I did let Siegfried assist me in dealing with the ****** (just to see the different art scene) and sent Yaevinn's letter to Vincent instead of Vivaldi (to see the different results). But I didn't assist either group in battle. The scene I got at the end was one where the battle raged on but the Order emerged victorious and "it was the last time I was able to avoid taking sides"
Was I not neutral?
Added: hey why did that trophy creature I mentioned get censored?
ssssssssssssssss

How far do you have to go to break neutrality?

Not to worry there is another chance to go completely neutral in Act 4

You're forced to "pick a side" in Chapter 3 regardless as you may remember from before. But in Chapter 4 your decision is fixed. In the end scene in the chapter just make sure you are not agreeing to help the order or the squirrels and that you are simply taking Alvin away. It should fall in place after that.
