I do not believe your lag issues are caused by CPU and RAM. I've played this game too many times on obsolescent PCs with good GPUs to think that. Whoever told you that did not understand this game. But it's your money. ›››

Nobody played The Witcher 2. My nephew played it in XBOX 360, which I avoid at all costs, and I played it in PC a bit. It lagged like hell.

My old PC is this

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.50GHz
RAM 4GB
NVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Power supply the same 200W
I don't know the motherboard model, not even her manufacturer.

Like this it could only run Amnesia at the highest. I had a lag issue due of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and I had to upgrade it to 4GB RAM. Like this I couldn't afford to upgrade it anymore, so I had to upgrade the rest and stick with these(power supply, GPU and Sound card) I have. :(

You may have misunderstood. I said that I have played The Witcher 2 on PCs with no more CPU power than yours, without lag. So no matter what you may have found with other games, you should not blame poor performance in this game on the CPU, and replacing the CPU will be an expensive undertaking that may have no benefit at all.

Part of your problem may be that you have a power supply that is already underpowered for the 550Ti. Graphics cards with an underpowered supply are a little unpredictable. They may refuse to start, or not run at full speed, or fail.

I see... Now that makes sense why... I'll inform my mates about it. Thanks.

Nvidia updated the GeForce 8400 GS card. My computer now runs the beginning intro of the Witcher 2 perfectly, with no lag. Link is here. Haven't played the game with the new driver yet.

Hey! I just finished the first Witcher game and im really eager to try the next one. however, im not sure about my laptop, will it be able to run it. the specs are -
Processor: i3 M380 @2.53GHz
Ram: 4GB
OS: 64bit win7
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M

I ran Skyrim some while back, and it worked almost without lagging, but the Witcher seems a bit more demanding when it comes to hardware. Any thoughts?

Also, are there any moods or something that lowers the effects and graphics so the game is playable on older machines?

Except for the graphics card which is kinda low for the game everything else looks ok . Not saying you can`t run it but if you do it will be on low specs and definitely not in full HD but more like 1280 x 720 screen resolution or lower .
