I seem to need some to make necrophage oil, but I have totally failed in finding any.

First of all, you need a certain skill in your Intellingence tree. It's Level Two, Oil preparation .
The formula requires a standard quality base, like goose fat, and three ingredients: two vitriol, and one aether.

Thanks; when I saw the words "goose fat", I recalled selling some to Abigail, and I probably got the goose fat originally from looting a barrel, or something like that.
