So, is there any character that gives you access to the Innkeeper Trunk in Old Vizima? I have 2 out of three yellow meteorite stones I need, and I'm confident I will soon find the third. However, one of my meteorite stones is in the innkeeper trunk. And I haven't seen an inn in Old Vizima anywhere yet. Of course, I believe Dandelion at one point had the innkeeper icon, but I haven't seen Dandelion around either.

No.  In Chapter 5, while the city is in flames and supplies are scarce, one of the ways in which CDPR makes the player feel that supplies are scarce is by not giving you access to your storage.  You see Dandelion in the beginning and end of the chapter, and that's it.

There are mods, though, that can give you access to your storage, if this kind of role-playing seems more annoying than fun.  Check out J_Slash's Stuff That Makes Geralt's Life Easier mod.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

The mod still works. And I think I must have used it in the save that I imported into TW2, since I use it most of the times that I play. There aren't that many aspects of your TW1 saved game that are imported into TW2, and this mod doesn't affect any of those things, so using it should be fine.

How/where do you load a mod into this game? I am a technological "know-nothing", so I'll need as much detail as you can provide. Thanks a heap in advance. :)

Using mods for TW1 is really very easy. There are three steps:

1. Extract the files from the archive
Most mods come in an archive, which is a way of compressing files so that they take up less space. Compressing them makes it faster for you to download the file, but the files don't work when they're compressed, so to get them to work, you need to uncompress them again. Doing this is VERY simple, so don't be intimidated by words like "archive," "extract," or "compressed. ;)

You can tell when you've downloaded a compressed or archived mod, because you get a file that ends in .zip, .rar, or .7z. For example, the Stuff That Makes Geralt's Life Easier mod is Stuff_v1.1.zip. You need to extract the files that make the mod actually DO stuff from inside the archive; to do this, right click on the file. Depending on which archive format the file is in, you might just be able to choose "Extract all," or you might need to find the name of your archiver. Most Windows computers come with a program that will extract zip files, and most of the mods you find will be in zip format, so you'll be all set.

2. Read the README
Once you've extracted the files from the archive, look at what you have. Most good modders include a README file with their mods, which tells you how to install them.

3. Put everything in the right place
Most mods go in your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder. (New adventures go somewhere else.) The easiest thing to do is to make a new folder in your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder, call it "Override," and put all of your mods in there. That way, you'll know which files you've added to that folder, as opposed to which files came with the game. You don't ever want to remove the files that came with the game, whereas you might want to remove a mod if you decide you don't like it or if it conflicts with another mod you like better. Notice that your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder is NOT the place where your saved games are; those go in a different place.

In XP, The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder is under Program Files. I don't have Vista or Windows 7, so I don't know if it's still called Program Files there, or if it's called something else. But in XP, you'd look for C:\Program Files\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data\

If it's the Stuff That Makes Geralt's Life Easier mod that you want to use (the one that was talked about earlier in this thread), do notice that this mod comes both with a folder to give you the items AND with a folder to remove the items, if you decide you don't want them anymore. Don't put both at once in your Override folder. ;)

Most mods come with a readme that will tell you where to put them after you extract them . The Witcher mods are quite small , well most of them are anyway . First you will need to go to your install directory and open the Witcher/Data folder and see if there is a folder named Override . If not then move the mouse to the right on any empty area and right click then move the mouse down to where you see New and hold your mouse there until you see an additional menu appear then move the mouse and left click on the folder . At this point you will see a folder appear then simply type Override on the keyboard and click an empty area again and wha-la...a new folder named Override . This is where the majority of mods go .

Thank you both, Corylea and Tommy, for the wonderfully clear instructions on downloading and installing the mod. And, of course, thanks to J_Slash for creating it. I opened my game and there it was. :D

Corylea, I had to smile when I saw how you wrote where XP would place a file. Although my Windows7 has some wonderful features, locating files in a directory is not one of them and I often miss XP. My location looks something like:

my name
-Program Files (x86)
--Steam
---steam apps
----common
-----The Witcher Enhanced
------Data
-------Override

Of course part of the complications are having Steam in there, but in case anyone with Windows7 and Steam ever asks, you'll have an idea of how to tell them where to look.

Thanks again!!!

I know I'll have to "upgrade" someday, probably to 8, but XP keeps working well for me, so I keep not seeing any reason to change it. ;)

Yeah i use Vista 64 (don`t say it :P ) but it works well for me and it`s on the same platform as 7 so i`m aware of what you speak . Actually Vista and 7 have the same functions as XP plus a few extras but you get to the same place but by a different route . I`ve used Vista for so long that when i go back to XP i`m lost for a little bit . LOL

Anyway i`m certainly glad you got it working . Cheers and congratulations on that .
