I've failed the "She's No Early Bird" quest in Chapter one very early in the game in the outskirts of Vizima, the attractive young girl lady that I'm suppose to protect from the evil barghest dogs and safely escort to her grandmother's house in the game has gotten killed by an barghest dog, and, is it recomended and required that I complete this quest correctly in the game???, please help.

Completing the quest provides some experience and also access to one of the cutest sex scenes in the game.  It's certainly not required, though.  Nothing bad will happen if you don't do it; you can complete the main quest -- and the game -- just fine.

If you do decide to restore from save and try the quest again, be aware that there are strategies for making this quest easier.  There's a long thread about it, here.

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.
