I need help! I am currently trying to finish the quest 'memory of a blade' I have gotten to the point where I must talk to Zoltan but the dialogue option never comes up! >:( I have the retail version of The Witcher Enhanced Edition and have tried patching it and even reinstalling it! But to no avail! (maybe a minor spoiler) Please I want to progress but I have to talk to him to get the recomendation so the blacksmith will make the rod to put in the golems hand! All help is appreciated! Thanks you.

Update: I still have the same problem but I switched out my silver sword for a rune sword before finishing the quest does this affect it? If so where can I get another silver sword? (if possible)

If you have Enhanced Edition, look it up in the guide. It should say what you need to do.

I think this depends on what path you have taken, maybe Zoltan isn't the one you need a recommendation from? ....I can't remember cause this game is so long with so many plot twists.

I would say that if you have gotten rid of the silver sword for an enhanced one you have buggered your quest in the fact that you no longer have the original silver sword. There are 3 options that you might try to get back on track .
1- Reload an older save prior to having replaced the silver sword
2- Using the saved game editor to replace the enhanced silver sword with the original silver sword
3- Go back to the blacksmith and possibly buying back the original silver sword

I can't find Zoltan even though I have been into the inn many times at different times of day...how or where can I find him?

You can try Vivaldi`s house but most times i find him walking the streets. In the early evening sometimes you can find him at the Hairy Bear

Yep, I find him on the street more easily than anywhere else.  If you turn on the labels, you can see his name sometimes even when you can't see him, so you can go racing toward that name.  But if he's not in the Hairy Bear, do try Vivaldi's.

Or in the streets. I caught up with him quite often near the entrances to the non-human district and sometimes even on the narrow path running from behind the hospital through the garden.
Here's where you'll never find him:
1. Path to the docking bay and the docks themselves
2. The training area near Vincent. or the path leading to it
3. The path leading to the cemetery.
You can find him on the streets anywhere else. If he's not at HB or at Vivaldi's, make rounds in the streets.

He's not that difficult to spot, you know... ;)
