That is a real problem.

Why don't you try loading an older save and playing up to that point. If it is a generic error, it'll not happen again.

Otherwise, you can give your savegame to someone else and hope he doesn't run into the same problem on his copy.

As a last resort, you can get a save from someone right AFTER this fight.

I'm really sorry for you then .

Only 2 solutions then:
1. Reinstall game. You'll be surprised how many problems this can solve.
2. Get another save-game after this fight from someone, or have someone play this section for you on a different copy of the game.

Yes it'll work. Just backup your save files before uninstalling. Oh, and make sure there is no version conflict. If you had installed EE before, you'll have to have EE installed now as well for saves to work, and vice-versa. Don't mix up non-EE and EE saves.

As late in the game as you are, I think it would be hard to find a saved game that matches yours exactly.  It might be easier to give your game to someone else, have that someone else play you past the Rayla moment, then return the saved game to you.

But wait.  Your only problem is that Rayla doesn't turn hostile?  Turning a character hostile is a VERY simple script.  I might be able to make a fix for you.  Let me see what I can do.

Edited to Add:  I looked at Rayla's conversation in Djinni, and it turns out that what's supposed to turn Rayla hostile is a script that's called from the QUEST (not from the conversation), once you've talked to Azar Javed.  If Rayla isn't turning hostile for you, then either you need to talk to Javed again, or your quest is messed up.  If it's the quest, then my turning Rayla hostile via a new script won't fix it for you, because your quest still won't update.

So, try talking to Javed again.  If that works, post and let us know, so that we don't worry about you. :-)

If talking to Javed doesn't work, upload your saved game somewhere and send me a link.  I can try using the saved game editor and Djinni to fix your quest.  I'm not suggesting that you do it yourself because it needs a combination of the saved game editor and Djinni skills to make this work, and while the saved game editor is easy to use, Djinni skills aren't something you can acquire in an afternoon. :-)

My Witcher-playing computer is broken.  It should be fixed on Saturday, so I'll be able to look at your game then.  Sorry for the delay!

Hi. I tried your save game if the same bug occurs. The bug is there like you told. However, the game was acting different. I haven't played with neutral path. Was your game played on neutral path? Because I tried my Old Manor save games from Scoiatel and Order sides in each one of them I see mutant Rayla "green"(friendly) first when climbing the slope but immediately after there is a cutscene where Azar walks towards me, we talk then Rayla becomes hostile after it and attacks. Maybe it's cutscene not starting causing you problem but I don't know if it's a plot thing if you weren't sided with anybody (neutral path).

I don't have experience with Djinni or modding but if it's the cutscene I believe it can be solved. Corylea or any other modder may help you with that I guess.

I have not used Djinni or anything, but I'll try that savegame on my computer as soon as I reach home in around 2 hours. If I can get you past that combat, it'll be fine? Also, if I succeed, I'll need your e-mail  to send it to you. I'll let you know ASAP.

UPDATE: Sorry. tried it on my friend's comp, whose house I am at right now. Same problem. "Shall we test that theory" and nothing else. I'll give ot another try when I reach home. I doubt it'll help though.
Don't give up hope though. I'm sure Corylea can help you. And whatever you do, don't give up on the game.

UPDATE #2: Sorry, no luck at home either. :(

@corylea
rayla not turning hostile isn't his ONLY problem. There is a cutscene and a conversation right before the fight, right? That itself is not triggered. You simply walk up to the spot where rayla is standing and talk to her, and that's it. Javed ports in after sometime, and he's "hostile" but just stands there. You cannot attack him. He simply dodges all attacks. The mutant hounds and stuff spawn normally.

Another thing. Both the times I tried this savegame (its at the entrance of Old Manor), I had to talk to de Wett first, and the conversation broke off in the middle. He just told me to side with the new order and walked away. I talked to him again and the conversation resumed from that point, and he attacked me. As far as I can remember, there was no break in the conversation normally.

UPDATE: I thought of something, and went to check it. When De Wett's conversation breaks for the first time without him attacking you, you can walk right past him to the manor, without talking to him a second time and activating the fight. I believe the whole level is screwy.

Another interesting thing is, though Javed is able to dodge all your other attacks, he's unable to dodge blows from the torch. Using the torch I brought down his health a bit, and then his health froze. Pity...

You can ignore them again and fight all enemies behind them, but the next cutscene doesn't play either, the one with Triss and the knights.

That's the point. You have to fight that knight no matter what. It's part of the story.

As far as I'm concerned, that's where your problem starts. One in-game event triggers another. If that fight didn't get triggered naturally, you probably didn't get the journal entry from that fight, which is preventing triggering the Rayla event.

Yes, I check just now. If you force the event to trigger by talking a second time, you do not get the journal entry. As far as I remember, after that fight, it gives a journal entry.

There is another way however, you need someone's savegame . You can ask at the savegame market. But since you're so far ahead in the game, it might be hard to find a savegame. Try that out , and if you don't get any savegame, pm me with you choices in the game. I plan to play TW again sometime in December. Maybe I can make the choices you need and send you the savegame. But I cannot do it before December, as I'm a little busy now. Let me know.
