As you say, there's no clear answer, so this is 100% speculation:

SOMEONE raised Geralt from the dead or created a Geralt simulacrum or something.  There aren't very many people in the world who have the power to do that.  But the Lodge of Sorceresses might have enough power.

Triss just happened to be at Kaer Morhen when the resurrected Geralt was found.  It's clear that she knows the witchers and has visited before, but since she's a busy sorceress and an adviser to Foltest, I wouldn't think she would be able to spend a whole heck of a lot of time at Kaer Morhen.  But she was there then.

When the "weird storm" started, she sent one of the witchers out into it.

She doesn't seem as surprised as one might expect to see Geralt again.  Dandelion is astonished, Zoltan is pretty surprised, but Triss doesn't seem shocked.

So my guess is that the Lodge of Sorceresses raised Geralt from the dead, and Triss was their sorceress on the spot to make sure that everything went smoothly.

WHY they raised him is a good question, but then, it's a good question for anybody.

As I said, pure speculation.

Now that you mention it... it *is* suspicious. Very obsevant!

Ah, but we only see her and Geralt *several days* after the witchers found him. So we, in fact, didn't see her first reaction. She might have been shocked like everyone else. I'd certainly expect that.

These are heavy spoilers from Saga so beware

Conclusion with light spoilers

"btw." heavy spoiler

Wheter Triss is evil is rather a question whether Sorceress Lodge is evil. They just have aspirations to rule, not with bloodshed, not with tyranny, but like every cunning king or queen would do.

Triss was communicating with a member of the Lodge through the mirror and that's nothing surprising or threatening. There might be some bigger plot behind because kings, queens and mages are always plotting but putting that aside, Triss really wants to help Geralt because she really has feelings for him.

Oh, and just in case, if Sorceress Lodge plans would put Geralt's life in danger, Triss disobeyed orders from the Lodge before to save her friends.
Victory demands no explanation, failure allows none.

Thanks for the spoilers, Flash, those were interesting.  It's a pain to be SO into this game and not be able to read all of the books on which it was based!

It's not the mere fact of her talking in the mirror that upsets people.  I think the part that many of us find surprising and threatening is the part where Triss' interlocutor says, "Never let the witcher guess what you hide from him."  This suggests that Triss has a secret about Geralt, that THAT'S what makes us suspicious of Triss.

@Flash,
but didn't Ciri fail to save Geralt and Yennefer when he died of the pitchfork wound, and she died trying to save him?
In suspended animation.
