Congratulations developers.....

The loaded dice in the outskirts of Vizima which chewed all my hard earned orens frustrated the beejeezus out of me.

You may well have had the most original RPG game on the market.  However as a completionist when someting as minor as this causes me to scream at a PC screen, then buh bye for ever

Flame on....... Thread will not be monitored

What exactly is the problem?

He lost at dice repeatedly and couldn't handle it.

It IS true that the dice game is frustrating because of the way it's implemented.  The game decides at the beginning of the match who will win, and the dice are manipulated to be whatever they need to be for that person to win.  So one's opponent can have nothing at all at the beginning of the second throw, then throw four sixes or a six-high straight in a single throw.  The game is very clearly rigged, and that hits a player's sense of fairness.

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

It is a problem only if player knows how it works. In real life you also can't be sure if what you do wasn't decided earlier for you ;-)

Ah, now I get it...

Well, hit the save button more often and retry. XD
Best option you can get - compared with real life!

I never took playing dice so serious, always seen it optional to earn some coins extra (if lucky).

To play dice or not to play now that is the "quest"ion

Personally i never let any "game" mini or otherwise get under my skin to the point of destroying something granted they can get annoying at which point you save and quit for awhile and come back in an hour or two or a day or two

Makes me glad that i ain`t a serious, hardcore gamer as i do it for the sheer enjoyment

Just save before each roll, eventually  you win... easy.

I didn't know it until I read this thread, and now it makes perfect sense why that game felt so frustrating. =(

I saved before my dice games since I lost several times without saving but saving before dice with Foltest wasn't allowed by the game and I remember losing to him in my first playthrough, it was really frustrating :D cos I couldn't cheat (reload) at that one.

Will have to admit that I've not played the dice game at all. Don't know why but this whole play through only played it twice. Once was when you were taught how to play it by the dwarf and the other time was With the Elf when you were in the dungeons when you first enter vizima and are arrested.

But will have to agree with you Tommy I've never let anything frustrate me to the point of destroying something especially a game. I mean whats the point in it?

Woah.
Okay, Dice WAS frustrating at times, but a game's usual length is like what, 1 minute at most?
Save before every game and load if you lose, not like it takes long.

@Tommy - Well, I wouldn't call someone who'd break his game disc over frustration a "hardcore gamer".

I'd call him a dolt.
I mean, games can sometimes get on your nerves, but how would breaking something help you calm yourself?

I'd tend to agree with you in regards to games getting on your nerves like with the dice game in the witcher. I don't let it bother me when I hit a snag like that there. After all usually regret it after wards. Had a heck of a time with the Kikimore queen as she keep taking me down with one hit. I couldn't fgure out why till I went further in and Geralt made the comment about the supports. Still took me a few times through as once I brought the place down on my head. But you play on.<LOL>

Oh shit, 'twas the same for me first time I played the game.
I even reloaded  an earlier save, stoned myself with potions like crazy and went to battle her..And I still got one-shot.Ugh. Good thing after the 15th reload I figured I could take her down with bombs, but I had only one, so I started running around and accidentally reached the destroyable supports.

Talking of fights that get on your nerves, Javed on "Hardest" with Flash mod is insanely annoying.
He deals extreme damage, takes a heck of a beating before going down, and if you actually try comboing him, you just screw yourself over. That annoying attack of his that blinds and incinerates at the same time..Damn.
What's worse is, he doesn't even need to cast it or anything. He can be KNOCKED DOWN and still do that.It was really annoying..until I figured out I can just spam Aard, hit him a few times, rinse and repeat.I took him down relatively easily after realizing that and for some reason, he's about 99 percent less likely to cast that spell of hgis if you only hit him with one or two combos and retreat.

Well, the whole point, I guess, is that the game isn't supposed to be a game of luck, but a game of skill. I don't know whether you learn how to throw the dice to get what you want, or you use your innate magic to steer the dice or something, but the whole point of the quest and how it's talked about, is that it is a game of skill, not chance.

Thus, if you're a novice, you'll virtually always lose to a professional "gambler", don't play one until you're a professional or better yourself!

if you gamble and lose and dont like it, save your game before you decide to roll. ;)
