I haven't met the wild hunt in any of the earlier chapters when many other people met the wild hunt in ACT 1? My first encounter with the wild hunt was at the end of the game, also i haven't encountered Leo's ghost too. Did i miss something out?

I believe you have missed him in Chapter 1 when you do the side quest for Declan Leuvarden  but you have to talk to him and he asks you to find his friend who tried getting to vizima through the cave. Go to the cave and kill the echinops one will have a skull ,take it and go to see the reverend then you can get into the church go to the basement place the skull in the sarcophogus then you meet the wild hunt

In chapter 4 you meet the wild hunt while doing a quest for the hermit who lives in the fields the quest involves killing some ghosts around a druid statue
