So is there a way to save Princess Adda versus being forced to kill her near the end?

It's possible to lift the curse. Take a look at this walkthrough on Witcher Wiki.
"Medical Problems 2," a fan-made adventure for The Witcher*, was released on May 15th. You can find it at http://corylea.com/ or Witcher Nexus. (*) Author: Corylea

in short its pretty easy, all you have to do is go into the crypt at night time, and run around princess Adda's sarcophagus while the candles go out.

Yeah, your choice as a player is more about your Geralt's political/moral decision than whether he is simply able to save/kill her.

Then there is the added problem of the king not being very pleased if you present him her head on a platter.

It's much easier to save her. Run around a bit and aard her to oblivion if she gets too close.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the Aurora Engine allowed her to jump *over* the sarcophagus? ;)

You are referring to Geralt or the Striga?

I should think that "her" was enough to define the subject. Geralt would be a "him", so that leaves us with the striga.

Oh..... uh sorry.
Overlooked it. *blush*

And yes. I think it'd be nice to have her jumping towards you over the sarcophagus. I'd like to see how it looks aarding an opponent in mid-air. She'll shoot farther away...

Should be pretty cool..... A night of playing ball with the striga, with the striga as the ball.....

Everytime I save her, I just have a race with her around the sarcophagus. Damn, Geralt must think it's stupid.

That sounds tiring. :-)

I use Quen, myself.  No damage to either of them, and quite restful. :-)

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

If you cast Quen, be sure not to power it up; powered-up Quen does potentially heavy damage to the attacker. I figure using Quen is as close as you can get to how Geralt solved the problem the first time, by sealing himself in the sarcophagus.

It was Looney Toons moment for me running around sarcophagus and bumping into Adda,
then Aard and other way around :-))

Yeah, the way Geralt saves her seems pretty silly given that in the opening cinematic you see this exciting and well-choreographed fight scene culminating in Geralt getting into the sarcophagus and sealing her out of it by casting Yrden on the lid (it's made more clear in the book), but in the game you have this Scooby Doo chase around a waist high obstacle. If it wasn't for the movie it'd have slid past my notice, but with that contrast it just seems almost comical, not to mention that the movie (and book) seem to state that he could just get into the sarcophagus and cast Yrden.

The first time I went in the lift the curse, I was intimidated by the whole idea, because I'd watched the opening movie umpteen times by then, and I didn't see how I could possibly live up to that.

It turned out I didn't have to; I could just cast Quen and stand around while the candles went out. I hear you that it was a letdown for you, but for me it was a relief, since I didn't think I'd be able to pull off what Geralt did in the opening movie. ::)

I know a lot of players play run-around-the-sarcophagus, but I find casting Quen and just standing there considerably more dignified. ;)
