I am at the end (I think) of Side Effects -- I wouldn't pay the extra $1,000.00 interest, and now I am in the basement with two (2) wyverns and Glover -- they keep kicking my tail -- I have my last swallow active, with tawny owl active and just one to spare in reserve -- my silver sword has a wet stone enhancement, and my steel sword has diamond dust enhancement.  There have been no enhancements for experience points (no bronze, silver or gold anywhere to be seen) -- I have no extra armor).  I don't have much ingredients and am not sure if I can even make a potient at this level.  The lady elf won't give me a key to the cemetary.  Is there a way to kill the Wyverns with a low-level Witcher without much magic?

This is a hard fight, but it's doable.

If you stand partway up the stairs, sometimes they'll attack you only one at a time, which makes things much easier.

Remember to use your signs in addition to your sword -- if you can set everybody on fire, they'll continue to burn while you retreat up the stairs (not far enough up to transition to a new area, just far enough up to be mostly out of reach).

Food will also help you regenerate.

It seemed like if I focused on Glover, his wyverns became less aggressive after he was dead ... but that could just be my imagination.

Good luck!

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

Thank you very much for confirming that it is a do-able scenario.  I had only tried my Aard sign that did not stun the wyverns on full power -- i.e., just pushed them backwards.  I had not tried the igni (fire) sign and will try that tonight along with the staircase trick -- I had sensed that the staircase was the key, but had not really been able to do any appreciable damage to the wyverns before being killed myself.  I look forward to trying again tonight.

They're very hard to stun with aard. Igni is absolutly the best in this case and as Corylea said, giving your back to the stair is useful. You have to fight them one by one.

The enhancement you gave to you blade may not be enough. I suggest you to use oils, such as argentia or crinfid's oil. Add a thunderbolt too, to the list of the potions you have to drink before the battle. If you don't have any recipe , check here, 'cause you brew it by yourself.

I confirm the staircase strategy plus Igni for all. Whereas you fight one by one, the others suffer from incineration  ]:->

If you missed scrolls and book to learn formulars you can check this list... just in case you want to use an earlier save to obtain these things.
I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

I remember that once, I defeated the wyverns using Yrden too. I found it pretty effective with those beasts (but not with the royal wyverns). Yrden keeps them busy and makes them suffer pain and poison, while Geralt regenerating.

The igni (flame spell) worked like a charm and I defeated the wyverns easily -- thanks.
