PM I am at the point where I have defeated the thugs inside the Salamandra Hideout, and at this point it is required that I enter the cave through the trapdoor. But I cannot find it! I need help.

Do you mean "The Salamander's tail" in Act I? I mean Geralt babbles something about the odds and ends in the hut before he discovers the trapdoor.

also, if you don't have the key, you may well see the trapdoor but you won't be able to open it :peace:
