Can't find anything about it in the manual or the options in-game.  I would love to have an in-game screenshot button and not have to rely on fraps to do it.

As well, it'd be nice if there was some way to toggle the HUD on/off so you could hide it to take a screen when you want.

When I play these types of games I looooooove to take screenshots, perhaps too much :p, but with the beautiful environmental design of the game world and the time/weather conditions I'm missing out on some very nice screenies when I forget to turn on fraps and the hud off would allow a view to see more of the world/backround.

I agree, is there a way to take in game screen shot even with the hud?

Enjoying the game thus far.

All you need is this for screenshots... www.game-master.net/pages/grabby.html

The HUD someone else would have to address.

Why not just alt-tab out of the game to turn on fraps? Not difficult.

Sorry to hear that, Grabby is pretty basic and this is all there is for help.  ---> http://www.game-mast...ges/grabby.html

There are a few other programs to search for, Grabby just works for me.  I'd try a few other programs if I were you and good luck.

I know that this is an old thread, but I thought it would be more optimal to bump it rather than create a whole new one about the same subject. Also, this was the only thread I could find that takes up the "issue" about not being able to take screenshots.

When I try to take a screenshot, the image comes out as completely black (the same thing happens with Grabby). I've encountered this problem with a few other games as well, and it was solved by disabling AA and/or HDR. This might be the case with The Witcher too, but I would like my screenshots to be of the highest quality so I'm wondering if anyone has any other solution to this little problem?

Just use FRAPS, it's free, or, rather, the demo version is, and will not have the watermark unless you take video.  :peace:

I love taking screenshots of games.  An in-game way to do this would be Sweeet!!  Some console commands or something to hide the HUD, then click!

The free version of Fraps just doesn't do the work. It's restricted to .bmp screenshots and I don't like to have change the format manually, since that's something I think should be standard even in freeware.

Really? I thought you could change the format... Anyways, I have the full version so I'm probably mistaken. :dead:

I am not sure how all these wonderful screenshots I am seeing on line are being made either, but I am going to dive in to the configutration files and make some effort to see why this is such a problem. My first thought is there is a simple setting or line which needs to be added. As with most games it's usually this EnableScreenShot=1 So this will be what I try first. It seems to me I did something similar , "prior to harddrive failure" , but I just can't seem to recall what I did. I was able to get high qualitry screen shots with a change in the configuration files and merely pressing the "Prt Scr" pint screen key. As to the "HUD" issue, I will look into a possibility of using "key binding" to perhaps bind a keyboard key to an instruction for HUD/On/Off, this is a feature which exisits in Neverwinter Nights, so since this is based on the Aurora Engine, it should be possible here. I am going to look carefully at both game configuration files and see what is different. If I find the solution, naturally, I will post my findings. :wall:
Decide what you need, go get it, then make it work. :o)
